“Not a good experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Walked by here late at night, decided to go in and listen to music. The employees were extremely rude and the music was average. Not a welcome place unless you are homeless.

“Another great place to catch live music on Frenchmen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

I've visited Frenchmen Street many times to enjoy live music, but this was my first visit to Blue Nile. It was a good size venue, accommodating a large crowd without feeling too cramped. The beer prices were on par with any of the other music venues in that area of town, most around $4 to $5 (although they were using small plastic cups for draft beer, so I couldn't quite tell if the pours were a little smaller than other bars).

We went to see Kermit Ruffins, and there was a large crowd. The set-up is a little strange because there's a huge column in the middle of the standing area right in front of the stage, which can block your view from the bar. But if you get there 20 minutes or so early, you can position yourself accordingly. Kermit went on about 45 minutes late, which I'm gathering is about average for him. But he put on a great show, and interacted with the crowd. Sound quality was good.

That night, there was a $10 cover. There's plenty of free music in NOLA (note: you can see Kermit for free at this Treme Speakeasy several times a week), but $10 was well worth the price to see him, and his first set went for at least 90 or more minutes.

“Cool spot to watch brass band”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Had a great time here while some friends and I rocked to an awesome brass band (Mainline). I wasn't expecting much because it was a Sunday night, but it was pretty great! The place was big enough that a small crowd wouldn't seem like it was completely empty in there. Drinks were great, service was fine.

“Great music, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Wandered up Frenchmen to get out of the tourist hype to a more local scene. Found this spot because of the low-key bluesy music coming from inside. Great band that evening (I prefer slower, laid-back blues to big-band jazz), and the bar tender was awesome. Very friendly and helpful in selecting a beer, and had a good conversation about the kids playing music in the street. A must for a more relaxed evening!

“Great music, slow bar staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

We paid $10 each to see local jazz trumpeter, Kermit Ruffins and the Barbeque Swingers, last night, He always puts on a great show! Drinks were a little expensive and the two bar staff were not in a rush to serve anyone. If it wasn't for Kermit, it would not have been a good experience.
