“Convenient to Convention Center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I stayed at the New Orleans Convention Center Marriott recently while attending a convention at the nearby Morial Convention Center. For the most part, the hotel's service and facilities were good and I’d stay there again.
My room was nice; I was assigned a room that’s sometimes used for mobility impaired guests, so it was a bit larger than some other rooms. My Marriott Elite status was noted and I received my requested king bed. The room was clean and the housekeeping staff did a fine job keeping it that way.
The staff members in the lobby were helpful with information about restaurants around town. Note to the food and beverage manager: restaurant service could be slow, as I found twice when entertaining clients at lunch. In addition, the bartender in the hotel bar poured a fairly consistent short shot. I mentioned this to my friend, and he said he’d seen her do it with other patrons.
There was a charge for internet, unfortunately par for the course at hotels such as this. I didn’t have time to check out the fitness facilities, so I can’t comment on them.
So, the hotel facilities and service were good, but the restaurant and bar service could use some work. In general, a good place to stay if you’re attending a convention.

The hotel was great, centrally located to the convention center. But what really made the visit stand out for me was our concierge. She set us up to have a wonderful time seeing the city, enjoying the nightlife and sampling the local flavors. My enjoyment of the trip was intricately linked to our concierge's hard work. When you're here get Rhoda Martinez to hook you up

The hotel was conveniently located to everything that you would care to see in New Orleans. The hotel itself was clean and nicely appointed, the staff were friendly and professional. The staff made you fee welcome and actually went beyond status quo to always being excellent.

Nice place.could not get into pool with our key for some reason. It's clean and people are nice. We reserved a king and wound up with 2 double beds and they couldn't make it happen. Would try again if we came back.

The property is a typical Marriott convention center type property. Rooms were neat and clean, property was beautifully decorated, etc. Walk out the front door, right into the convention center, VERY CONVENIENT!

The ONE thing that made the stay was the staff. Bellmen, valet, desk, restaurant even housekeeping.... all were TOP NOTCH! Smiling faces, no "attitudes", always made me feel like I was the only guest at the hotel. Mike and Jeff from the bell staff were the stand out employees over our 10 day stay. They were always right on top of our requests, remembered names, had the car pulled around as soon as they saw us, etc. ALL of the front of house were good, I just happen to remember these guys names.

Breakfast was typically overpriced for this type of property, around $20 for a breakfast buffet, but the food was good. The cooks that made cook to order items were very nice.

RECOMMENDED!

I was in town for EMS World Expo and stayed here for a week. The goods: large room, nice bathroom, nice towels. The bads: room was not cleaned until almost 6:00 p.m. some days, bathtub drain made gurgling sounds after a shower for about five minutes, even though all the water was gone, and the bathroom sink didn't drain too fast.

Had a little fridge in my room that lit up and that was nice. Stocked it with my own beverages and it was left alone all week (yay for cold water!)

Room faced the west and the A/C could not keep up in the afternoons, unless the curtains were closed. I'd close the curtains, leave and the maid would open them back up again. Sigh.

A good stay and am coming back later this week for another week for a different conference.

Room Tip: Go for an upper floor and don't face west.

I was in town for the AAP conference and chose this hotel based on the location. It was great to be so close to the conference, and under a mile to walk to the French Quarter and other attractions. Hotel was expensive per night, but I assume fair based on other rates. Concierge was amazing and so helpful. Front desk was hit or miss, bellmen were amazing and awesome.
