“Many movies have been filmed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is located in the Garden District. We took the St. Charles Streetcar to get there. Founded in 1833, the cemetery takes up an entire city block. It was really interesting to wander around.

“Interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Cute cemetery to visit while in the Garden District. Several movies and shows have used this cemetery as a setting. Fortunately, we ran into a tour guide inside the cemetery that gave us a lot of interesting information that was well worth the tip. Get there early because it is only open until 2:30pm Monday - Friday and until noon on Saturdays.

“Different place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

First time visiting a cemetery. It was a nice experience. Although we didnt take the tour due to time schedule. The architecture was impressive.
My recommendation, get a tour. After this, get around the area, the houses are impressive. You can arrive to it from the Street Car and is a nice walk.
If you like movies locations, the benjamin button's house is one block away.

“Nice to see”

We went on a tour with "Free Tours by Foot" and had a very informative guide. We walked around some of the streets in this area and he told us who lived where which was really neat.
