“Great hotel, cookies and location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

I stayed here for a week at the end of January, on Business. It is in a superb location - everything worth seeing is a short distance away. The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially the bar staff. All day coffee and delicious cookies are a nice touch. The hotel is very clean and has everything you would need. I loved my time in New Orleans and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Glad to hear you had a 5 star stay! We definitely like to give a great New Orleans experience which includes being right in the middle of all the fun, but just far enough that you dont get the party right outside your window. Having cookies, coffee and a peaceful French Quarter carriageway style lobby to come back to at the end of the day really do help make the hotel feel like home! Thanks for taking the time to share!

Overall we had a good stay at this Country Inn. We stayed during the week before Mardi Gras. Check in was odd when we approached the desk agent. As soon as we walked up to the desk, the employee announced that the hotel was full and that we would be transported to the Drury Inn. It just so happened that my husband called the morning of our late night arrival to confirm our king suite. So we questioned the desk agent as how this could be. The desk person went so far as to call us a cab. We insisted that our reservation was not to be moved and requested that our reservation be checked. Well it turns out our reservation was fine and we were checked in. The desk agent made this declaration with out actually checking to see if our room had been reserved. What if we just took his word for it? Odd not to check before declaring the hotel full. We requested some accommodation for this unnecessary mixed up that really didn't exist, except in the mind of the desk agent. We received 2 free drink coupons for the bar. The rooms were clean and there are TVs in the living room and bedroom. We had room 210. Be forewarned that some would consider this room placement to be noisy as all the noise from the lobby and bar atrium can be heard clearly. The room has no direct natural light as the window opens to a hallway lit by the atrium sky light. You can't open the curtains much as people are constantly walking by thus to get light, you sacrifice privacy. The bedroom is bit like a cave--brick walls, no window. However the bedroom quiet because it is a cave. The room has a microwave and refrigerator. Hotel has an OK breakfast if you don't mind carbs and fruit. 24 hours free coffee and tea is a nice feature. The bathroom is very small but adequate and some wear and tear was evident like chipped paint. Overall, if we got a good rate we would stay again as the location is very good for tourism and business downtown. The french quarter is about 7-10 minute walk. Warehouse district bars and restaurants are also walking distance. We would try to get a room with natural light and quieter location, which isn't easy due to the open floor plan of this restored warehouse building.

Room Tip: Ask for natural light room with less atrium noise.

I've been staying here for a couple of years during my business and pleasure trips to NO and am never disappointed. I like the convenient location to almost everything and the property's interesting architecture. Hotel is constructed from several old warehouses so has real history and character. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I am not a fan of big city high rise hotels and prefer staying at boutique hotels like the Kimpton group or something historic. That said, this place is my favorite place to stay in NO. My only hesitation in giving it my full recommendation is that it will become so popular that I won't be able afford to stay here in the future.

The hotel was located two blocks from the French Quarter - much quieter than being in the FQ but close enough to enjoy it. The service was great - all of the people that we dealt with were friendly and accommodating and everyone asked us about our stay and hoped that we enjoyed the hotel, our days with them and New Orleans in general. The breakfast was well organized and plentiful with good selections. The room was small but it was clean and well taken care of. The front desk and the concierge were great - so were the cookies. The only downside was that we were on the alley-side of the hotel - normally that is fine but the garbage collection trucks and service delivery vehicles all entered the building from that side at between 3 and 6 am - I know there isn't much they can do about it but it was a bit annoying. I'd stay there again.

My husband found this hotel and it was perfect. Everyone was friendly, from the valet to the front desk and breakfast help. The room was great for us, very comfortable bed, we had a view of the courtyard with the spa. Bathroom was roomy, shower had hot water, and a pretty good shower head. Amenities were standard, nothing exciting. There was a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot in the room. Breakfast each morning and it was plentiful. Happy hour to us means free cocktails (we are embassy suite customers), and here they were only 1/2 price...Cookies every day at the front desk. It was the perfect location on Magazine, just two blocks from St. Charles, Canal St, and the French Quarter was a little walk, but no big deal. Walked to Café du Monde and further, just wear your walking shoes. We would go back again and recommend it.

Green Features: even though, like all hotels, they say they won't take your towel if you leave it hanging on the door, they take it away.

Close enough to walk to Bourbon St. and all the French Quarter fun, handy to the Riverwalk, casino and WWII museum. 1-1/2 blocks to Canal Street, 3 blocks from riverwalk. The staff was amazing -- friendly, helpful, welcoming, efficient. The rooms very comfortable. With all of the historic buildings in the city, it was fun to be staying in a room with high ceilings and original wood beams. There are multiple levels to each floor making for an interesting layout. The pool looked nice, saw others using it in the courtyard. Fitness room available but we didn't use that. Big highlight was the efficiently-run breakfast included with the price of the room. Real dishes and silverware. Variety of main entrees that were hot and tasty. Staffed with enough people to bus the tables, wash off vacated ones, and continued to re-stock food choices. Maid service was great as well. We will definitely stay here if we return to New Orleans.

Hotel is in a renovated old building with nice public spaces and a good location. However our actual room was quite disappointing. Paid a high premium for a room during an event period in the city, and got a fairly small room, below grade of the sidewalk, which looked out onto the sidewalk and street parking, meaning you could not open the curtains or the world would be looking into your room. Told front desk of dissatisfaction but hotel was sold out. Carpet had stains, and bathroom was pretty basic. Just a not great hotel room at a price you would expect to pay for something a lot better. I'd go elsewhere next time.
