“What a cool place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

The hotel is in a renovated warehouse about a block off Canal Street. It's billed as being in the French Quarter - it's close - but I wouldn't call it "in the French Quarter." You have to cross Canal Street and then walk a couple blocks to really get into the Quarter. That being said - the walk is not bad and it's a very cool place. We paid a little extra to get a room with a Magazine Street view. Loved the architecture!

Hot breakfast in the morning is a big PLUS. We will stay here again!

Room Tip: You do have to walk a couple of blocks to get into the French Quarter. It's a block off Canal so...

Great location at the edge of the French Quarter. The rooms were clean, well equipped with microwave and fridge, and quiet. The staff were fantastic - from the concierge providing maps to the front desk offering fresh baked cookies to the bartender sharing stories at happy hour to the staff keeping the breakfast hot and ready! It was a real find and at such a great price.

Room Tip: This hotel is a combination of seven warehouses. We stayed at the end of a hall and it was really qu...

Conveniently located on Magazine Street, The Country Inn and Suites is part history and part "new world friendly" that accommodates the traveller with clean and modern accommodations. Pieced together from not less than seven different buildings on the block, the hotel offers, a fairly quiet atmosphere, free Internet, free cookies, free breakfast and an excellent location that puts you within walking distance of the French Quarter and Riverwalk. The hotel staff was very friendly - from housekeeping to front desk - we were well received and greeted in all our comings and goings within the hotel. Our bill was explained to us by the front reception desk and there were no extra charges. I would recommend this establishment and would stay here again and again!

Our stay here was wonderful. The staff was friendly, even the maintenance and cleaning crews... You could tell that they were all committed to providing great service to their guests. The concierge staff was very knowledgeable about local attractions and one team member even offered to book a tour for us on her day off! The front desk was courteous and efficient. Robert helped us out quite a few times. By far though, our favorite staffer was John, the bartender. He was genuine, friendly, and full of advice... You could tell that he loves his job.
The hotel layout was a bit confusing, but it is an historic building and thus is to be expected. The staff will help you find whatever you're looking for. As far as location in NOLA, it couldn't have been better. Our group was attending a conference the week prior to Mardi Gras and the hotel was a short walk to both the French Quarter and the Convention Center.
Our room was a decent size with a view of a small side street. It was very clean and had plenty of storage space for our things. Big bonus: microwave and mini-fridge! The only thing I disliked about the room itself was that the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan, but this didn't seem to harbor any mold/mildew. One member of my group is extremely allergic to mold and she didn't have a single issue. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

If you are looking for a hotel that offers clean, basic rooms at a very good price, one that is in a great location, and is staffed by friendly people, then look no further. We visit New Orleans about once a year, and for this trip we decided to redeem some of our credit card miles for airfare and hotel. Thus, we chose this hotel, as it “fit our budget” when it came to points.

The location can’t be beat – you’re just a few blocks from Canal St., and crossing over takes you right into the French Quarter. We visited the WWII Museum on this trip, and it was an easy walk from the hotel. For those who are interested in the casino, it’s just a few blocks away. If you are venturing further, the bellman will be happy to hail a cab or call a bike taxi for you. These guys always had a smile on their faces and were there to greet you each time you returned to the hotel.

Although we made all our plans/dinner reservations before arriving, I’m sure the concierge would be a great help for those who are new to the city. Over the course of the four days we were there, the two ladies we saw at the desk were always busy and they, too, always had a pleasant smile and greeted guests as they passed through the lobby area.

The fact that this is an old building just added to the charm of the hotel. They have incorporated the historic elements very well in creating a comfortable space with lots of character. No cookie-cutter hotel here! The little courtyard right outside the breakfast area/tiny bar was a pleasant place to sit in the evenings before heading out for dinner.

While the room itself was VERY basic, it met our needs – very comfortable bed with decent bedding and an ample-sized bathroom. I must stress that everything was clean and neat throughout the building at all times. Housekeeping staff members were out and about doing their job with a smile and a greeting at all hours.

Having stayed at quite a few other hotels and B & B’s in this city in the past, I doubt that we will stay here again. But that is just our opinion. This is only because this spot just didn’t have that New Orleans “feel” or vibe for us. I think they’ve made a real effort to try for that, but it just didn’t feel authentic. For most people, that probably wouldn’t be a requirement, and in that case, this property would be a great choice. The fact that breakfast is included in the rate is a real plus. Coffee, tea, fresh fruit, and granola bars were available at the bar all through the day, and cookies were on hand at the front desk. You really can’t beat that for the price!

The staff at this hotel would definitely be their greatest asset. The location is pretty good but, as with most of the downtown hotels, you have to valet park. My room was extremely small which made it difficult to even get around the bed after putting one piece of luggage on the provided luggage stand. The breakfast was nothing spectacular and the bar was tiny. I normally stay where I have a view of the river and missed that even though it was easy to walk to the things I enjoy most in the area. Mother's is right around the corner in one direction and the French Quarter is an easy walk in the opposite direction. I usually try to combine work and pleasure and I felt very cramped when I was in the room working on my computer and phone.

Room Tip: I have seen reviews about comfy rooms. I asked for an upgrade, as some had mentioned, but didn'...

We stayed for a couple night before a cruise Jan 17,2013. The hotel is located just a couple blocks from the French quarter and two blocks from Harrahs. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance.
The hotel is unique in that it appears to be a couple of buildings that have been put together. It is very charming And Very clean throughout. The lobby is comfortable and the bar/breakfast area was inviting with people usually hanging around. The bar is open 3-11 each day and is a highlight. John the bartender is fantastic and represents the hotel well! Let him make you a Sazerac!
The hotel room itself is small but very clean and has everything you would need.
Overall the staff at the hotel is one of the best I have Experienced!
