“Lovely, affordable hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We stayed at the Country Inn and Suites for a 3 day anniversary trip. I was extremely pleased with the hotel. The building isn't exactly luxurious, but it has more charm than the big newer hotels on Canal. It's a historic building and they've kept some of the original brick walls, beams, etc. The room was fairly small (not miniscule, just cozy), but in an old city I expect that. I had asked for a quieter room because I had heard the rooms near the atrium can get loud, and they accomodated with a room in the back. No noise problems whatsoever! The bed was reasonably comfortable, the bathroom had plenty of counter space, everything was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone we encountered was great! They have a free daily breakfast buffet with your standard hotel food, though there was a bigger selection than you get in most free breakfast buffets. There is a TINY pool--just slightly bigger than a large hotel hot tub. Don't expect to swim laps (or sunbath as the pool is kind of shaded), but for a quick, cooling dip it's just fine. As for the hotel location, we thought it was great. It was a totally reasonable walk to the French Quarter (maybe 10 minutes to the start, and 15-20 to really get further in). It's convenient to the Canal streetcar and not too far from the line along the river, and you can get to several major bus lines easily. To be honest, I liked that things were a bit calmer in the CBD. The French Quarter is pretty crazy, and while it was fun I was happy our hotel wasn't like that! We also spent a lot of time in the CBD, and the Country Inn was quite convenient for that. The area felt safe too, safer than some of the blocks further into the CBD. Overall, I thought the Country Inn was a great value, and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed 4 nights & from the first instant at front desk we felt welcomed ... The entrance, corridors & rooms are all kept beautifully clean ... Our room was a good size with a nice size bathroom ... The location was perfect for us as newcomers to Nola with everything within walking distance or a short walk to tram/bus ... With the help of the hotels concierges we were able to book tours & diners with all these recommendations working out to be fantastic ... Both my wife & I would highly recommend this hotel to any visitors.

We have just returned from New Orleans having taken our 4oldest grandchildren ages 11,9,8 and 8. I didn't spend a lot of time planning this trip. We go to NO 3-4 times a year but with the children I knew I couldn't stay at the usual places in the quarter so I saw Country Inn and Suites had a suite that would accommodate us and booked it. I was so surprised at the quality and staff. It was equal if not better than some of the very expensive places we have stayed. They were so sweet to our children and so accommodating to our every need. We will return again. Great location, great service and overall great experience.

Arriving by car, was very easy to get to, valet parking worked well and no dearer than anywhere else in New Orleans. Suite was large sitting room, and equally large bedroom. We were on 5th floor, and altho hotel very busy experienced no noise. Excellent selection at breakfast, hot selection changed every day. Daughter partic like the make your own waffle station. Also provided take away fruit and cereal bars, even providing bags to put them in. Hotel was about a 7 min walk from Jackson Square, slightly less to the aquarium so ideally situated for seeing everything New Orleans has to offer. Would defn stay here again.

Had never stayed in a Country Inn & Suite hotel before but the reviews on the place looked promising, and the price was reasonable, so we booked in for 3 nights.
Located on Magazine Street the hotel is only a short walk from the French Quarter, which was fine.
Valet parking only, @ $25 per night, but this is a city centre, so to be expected.
Very friendly staff at reception, oh, and free cookies (Otis Spunkmeyer - baked freshly!).
Room was a reasonable size with a king size bed, which was comfy, large LCD tv, coffee maker, a/c, lots of lamps and power points (the latter was useful as we had all sorts of cameras, phones and tablets to recharge!), and a good sized bathroom, with shower and bath. There was free wifi throughout the entire hotel. And an endless supply of free cookies.
The hotel is in the "warehouse" district and it's origins were apparent in the room design, with exposed ceiling beams and pained brick walls.
There's even a small pool and outdoor courtyard.
On our first evening we had need of medical attention as my wife had picked up an eye infection - the hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and provided advice & directions for the "urgent care" walk-in centre, as opposed to attending ER.
The following day we got lots of advice on what to see & where to go, from concierge (I think her name was Mary), who made herself available without us even asking for any assistance.
Breakfast was also included, and hot food was available, although we felt service finished a little early during the week at 9.30, especially after a late night drinking!
A variety of coffee was also available 24hrs a day, oh, and did I mention free cookies?!
Overall we had a great stay. This isn't a 5 star establishment, but it was conveniently located, very reasonably priced, clean & comfortable, everything functioned in the room, and the staff were fantastic!
Did I mention the free wifi, coffee and cookies? Oh yeah, I did... :D

Sure, valet parking is no big deal but when it is done really well and with a smile it makes a big difference . It also is the first experience, after check-in, of an hotel so it is important to get it right. 'Drew' at the Country Inn got it dead right. Obliging, smiling and efficient. Just made such a difference. Actually all the boys were great!
