“Good hotel, Great Price, Great Locatoin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

My friend and I stayed here for three nights in late July on what was the first trip to New Orleans for both of us. We shared a big 1-bedroom suite, that allowed for enough room and a locking door between us (my friend can drown out a freight train when he gets to snoring). The hotel was affordable, the room was clean. The bed was comfortable and very nice, and we had a lot of big windows, in our corner room.

There was a safe in the closet, good water pressure and lots of channels available on both the TV in the living room and the one in the bedroom. Free WiFi was really nice as well.

The hotel is not in the French Quarter, but is very close by, and on a quiet, nice street. I thought the location was ideal, close to the action, but far enough away that when you came home, you could sleep.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I were back in New Orleans.

I think you stole paragraph #3 out of one of my replies! Just kidding - but it is one of my favorite parts about the property. Close enough to stroll to just about anywhere you need to get, but far enough that you don't hear all the noise of the attractions. Thank you for your reccomendation and taking the time to share your experiences. We definitely appreciate the feedback. We look forward to you coming back to visit!

The building is truly original - made up of a collection of buildings you can see the bones of the original structures throughout the space. Very nice and in a quieter part of NOLA just blocks from the French Quarter.

One odd thing, the pool is more like a pond. It looks rustic and you can float and look at the stars, in the openings of the walls surrounding the space but you certainly cannot do laps.

Room Tip: it is labirynth so elevators near your room may make access an issue

Glad you enjoyed the charm of the property! We love being so close to walk to all the action of the quarter, but juuuust far enough that when sitting in the courtyard you can forget you are downtown. Thanks for taking the time to write a review, and we hope you come back soon!

We booked a hotel through a deal at Expedia where you only know the price and they don't tell you what hotel it is until you actually book the rooms. We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights and were very happy with this hotel. Staff was friendly, cookies were good. One of the rooms we got smelled like smoke and when we told the staff, they gave us another room. Breakfast was delicious, with a lot of choices and real silverware and plates. The rooms were clean. We got one room on Magazine Street, but could not hear the noises or traffic. We loved this hotel and will probably be back on our next visit.

We were a large party in a family reunion. We had 3 rooms for 2 nights before going on a cruise and 3 more rooms afterwards, so we really got to see a few different rooms.

All were great, some were HUGE! for the same price we could really see that some rooms are much larger than others, but even the smaller ones were of a very reasonable size, the other ones were just much more than expected!
Clean and nice, branded toiletries, comfy beds, lots of room, all great!

The breakfast is also really good.
The pool is tiny but it was not in our plans to spend much time there. If that is important for you, then you might want to reconsider, but if it is just to cool down or for the kids to spend a bit of time there, then it is more than plenty.

But the best, is the PEOPLE! super friendly and helpful, keen to help and accomodate every single request we had.

We would definitely stay there again when we go back to New Orleans!

Fantastic to hear! Being converted historic buildings, no two rooms are quite the same. I agree though that even the coziest of them, are still plenty spacious. I am thrilled that you got to experience a few different rooms, and I am sure a lot of different staff members and it all wow'ed you. We really do strive to go the extra mile in everything we do here, and I am glad it made your trip that much more comfortable and fun. Thank you for taking the time to write the review, and we hope you come back again soon!

Stayed the weekend at this charming, beautiful hotel and it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had, if not THE best. The staff met us on the sidewalk as soon as we put the car in park and welcomed us and told us he would take care of parking and luggage. All staff was freindly and helpful the entire stay. Rooms were elegant and clean. They served the best breakfast EVER! I read some of the reviews on this hotel before going and the only negative thing that was said was they ran out of breakfast too soon. NOT true for this guest; Waffles, scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, many cereals, fresh fruit, loads of coffee and juice machines available. I was amazed at how they didn't let the food run out and there were loads of people eating. The swimming area is private and cozy with a sitting area and pergula overhead carrying ivy and wisteria vines bringing in the charms of the city. Pool is small but who cares? I didn't go to New Orleans to swim in an olympic sized pool. LOVED THIS PLACE!!

We are glad you loved your stay! The breakfast crew are definitely hardworkers, that are sometimes underappreciated on here! Its a tricky balancing act to make sure everything is out fresh, but when a big rush comes not to run out of anything. Normally they do very well at this, and I am glad I will get to give them your kind feedback! We hope you can come back and relax in the courtyard again soon :)

Stayed here with my family for 3 nights in June 2011. Hotel has great character, meshing the old with the new. If you don't like your room, ask for another one because there are several different styles/layouts. Service from all employees was excellent. We enjoyed the free hot breakfast and cookies. Within walking distance of the French Quarter, casino and WW2 museum. I was not comfortable walking at night by myself but we never had any problems while we were there. The pool is very small but quaint.

Reserved one bedroom, were upgraded to a suite due to friend's available points. This is what a hotel should be. Clean and spacious; everything you could want. Free breakfast with lots of choices (and free fresh-baked cookies in the p.m.) Received a call from the staff after check-in to see if we needed anything. On-site bar, 24-hour coffee, a staff that aims to please in a lovely setting and good location to everything. Valet parking, and we were allowed to leave the car and luggage longer than noon check-out without an extra charge. The staff seemed genuinely happy that our stay was a good one! What a difference (like night and day) between this and our stay at Hotel De L Eau Vive just down the street the week before. That was a huge disappointment. What a dump!
