“Clean Room, Convenient location. What more can you ask for?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

Stayed here during the last week of June. Booked kinda last minute through orbitz. Was a bit skeptical due to some of the reviews on here. But i was in for a pleasant suprise. It is one of the better hotels ive visited during my travels. No complaints about the room whatsoever. It was small but clean & tidy. The hotel also is in a location, quick walking distance from all the action but still on a safe quiet block. It is right around the corner from the French Quarter;the party strip of Bourbon st., the classy art galleries of Royal st, and a streetcar tram which will bring you to the outskirts of the city. The staff seemed a bit frigid at times but that was not my main concern concern. Its a good hotel. I'd suggest it to anyone visiting NOLA, especially first-timers. And most importantly, a free coffee machine too!!!

Got a great price on Priceline. They only rated it 2 1/2 stars but I would say 3 or 3 1/2. Large comfortable guest room with high ceilings overlokking Magazine St. Walking distance to French Quarter, Museums, Warehouse District restaurants. Extremely friendly and personable front dek clerk on the 3-11 shift on the 4th of July. Will stay here again.

We loved the Country Inn in New Orleans. It's just a few block from from the action, near the WWII museum and great food. The rooms are big with high ceilings and clean. I would stay again.

Convenient and quiet location. Easy walk to river and French Quarter. Restored series of buildings so nice my wife wants a condo like this. Sheez! Breakfast typical of CI &S, would have liked boiled eggs also as others have...but ah well.
Outstanding part is the front desk (pm) Andrew. Spot on w/ recco for restaurants!!! Cheerful and attentive, baby sat a doll for a 5 y/o, upbeat and professional. Can't pay folks like this enough. Frank, as concierge, was helpful (birthday cake!), could have a bit more knowledge in depth of various venues but that will come in time. He is a gem.

Only minor negative is concierge isn't "linked" to hotel. eg, Can't bill to room, has to use personal cell for calls. Come on,if he's there to serve give him the tools he needs.
Clean rooms and comfortable beds
Would return and probably will.

Room Tip: Not all b-room w/ windows..if you like am light

This was a business trip for my husband, and fun trip for myself. Loved the location of the hotel. Steps from Canal St, Harrah's, and Bourbon St. and the Convention center weren't too far away either. The pool was pretty tiny, and the exercise room was small but efficient. Cool architectural details in the lobby. Only weird thing was there were stairs to get to our room coming off the elevator. Kind of a pain dragging your bags down all the stairs. Besides that, we loved it and will be back.

The stairs are actually a result of our historical conversion. One of the seven buildings that used to make up the property had floors that were just a little lower than the rest of the buildings, so when connecting we had to add small staircases. When you come back next time, dont hesitate to ask for some help with the bags - we would love to help out!

When staying in New Orleans there are a few things I look for in a hotel. One is location. New Orleans is a walking city. This hotel is located in a good spot, two blocks off Canal so very close to the Quarter but not in it. Two blocks from the casino and a two blocks from a street car pickup location. Second is a quiet room. Our room was perfect, on the top floor and on the end of the building. We did not hear much at all during the night. The last thing is value. This was a very good value. We got the room for $67 per night, including tax, on Hotwire. That was an excellent value. Now the room was small but you’re not in the room much. The staff was OK except for the evening clerk which never got anyone to our room to clean it one night. The hotel was an old warehouse so it has lots of charm. The pool is the size of a hot tub and the elevators are very slow. Free breakfasts were typical and what you should expect for free. All-in-all, I would stay here again for the value, location, and quiet rooms. If you want an up-scale hotel go someplace else.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room away from the balcony

New Orleans ~atleast the downtown area~ really is a walking town. There is so much to do here, and from our location a lot of it is quicker to get to on foot than it would be to drive! We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and hope you come back to visit soon.

This was our first return to New Orleans in a long time, this was the midpoint in a business trip. We checked out other major hotel chains in the area, but this one seemed the most convenient and met our budget. We were right.

The location of this hotel is perfect because it is within a few blocks of all of the Big Easy's major attractions, including Bourbon Street, Canal Street and the French Quarter--but at the same time, far enough away to avoid the boisterous crowds and traffic. Location is within a few blocks of the trolley car route.

The room at this hotel was immaculate and the staff extremely friendly. My wife and I had been on the road for 10 days and were tired of the same old hotel breakfasts. We stayed at the Country Inn for two (weekend) nights and were happy to see them change the breakfast each morning. Other hotels we stayed at in other cities never changed their breakfasts and had no selection. One neat touch at this hotel was to have a "to-go" section outside the breakfast room. This enabled me to run down and bring my wife's wake-up coffee to the room without having to go through the entire breakfast line. Then later we returned to sample the breakfast burritos, scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles. This hotel had two or three staff members keeping constant watch to make sure the food did not run out and the food was well prepared.

When it came time to see New Orleans the staff was very helpful, advising us where to get the trolley and how to walk or drive to nearby attractions. We were able to take our car out of the valet parking as many times as we wanted.

This is a neat hotel, none of the problems we read about for other New Orleans hotels, great staff and great location. I can't think of anything I would change. This place even had cookies at the front desk all the time!

Room Tip: Upper floor room to avoid street noise
