“OK, if you're willing to invest 2+ hours.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

Byblos is at the high end of the price scale, and for Lebanese not as good as the much cheaper Lebanon Cafe. On our most recent visit the food was good, if not special, but the service (kitchen + waitstaff) was terrible, and the atmosphere was challenging.

We were seated in a window seat, and within minutes were stressed out by the pounding MIddle Eastern techno music. It would have been fine in a techno club, but had no place in a restaurant. A table opened up outside, but were were told 3 parties were waiting for one. After 15 minutes the music quietened somewhat. The table outside was seated, attended, served, and finishing by the time we received our food (about 45 minutes). After we finished and received the check, we faced a similar wait for the check to be picked up. We finally walked the bill up to the reception and paid there. That took a while, too.

Horrible service doomed what would have be a good (3*) meal.

“A different twist on Mediterranian cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

We had walked around the Garden District for most of the day and decided to eat as well; Magazine street has a lot to offer for eateries but for some reason the food smells coming out of Byblos attracted us right away.

The location itself is great; right on the street and close to many nearby attractions. The building has been well restored; an old location that has many of the character items exposed inside (brick etc) and it all adds to a great environment for eating.

Although it was busy and our server having to oversee quite a few patrons we were served fairly quickly and friendly. Our main dishes took quite a while to come but we were treated to appitizers early on which filled the gap. The extra time was worth it; some fantastic vegetarian dishes and other choices were eagerly consumed. I have to say as well that this was some of the best hummus I have every had anywhere.

“Good choice on Magazine Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

We were disappointed to find many restaurants on Magazine Street closed on Monday. This block had three good choices open, and based on menu, we selected Byblos. The grilled skewers offered a good selection for everybody, the the side dishes were delicious.

“Mediterranian at it's best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

This was the best food! They have the best hummus ever. The vegitarian choices were excellent but our meat eating friends were also pleased with their food. Highly recommend this place. Nice atmosphere and decent prices. A little off the beaten path but worth it.

“Delicious and Flavorful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

Great place on Magazine St. We happened to be walking by and decided to try it out. Sampler platter was a great starter and has a little of each of their specialties. Service a little slow but food was very good.
