“I visit weekly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

If I'm not eating Mona's delicious hummus, baba ganouj, or flafel, then I'm at the grocery, which boasts perhaps the best international foods section in the city. From olive oil, to pistacios, to hookah's, you can find it at Mona's grocery. They also have the cheapest selection of nuts and herbs in town, along with fresh daily pita bread. I'm just glad it's in my hood!

“Pill capsuls and hairs in food - roaches and mice in kitchen!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

My family and I live with the understanding that there seems to be no functioning health department in New Orleans, where we live, and take some risks when it comes to eating out.

With that said tonight was too much! We got some take out from Mona's Cafe of Carrollton Ave; as we were eating I found a half dissolved pill capsul of white powder in my hummus! This was way, way more frightening than the hair we tend to find in their food or the mice we see running over the bags of rice!

The manager offered no condulances and stood firm that it wasn't from their kitchen! I will be calling poison control and the health department!

Eat with caution!

“CHEAP AND YUM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Very old school and laid back, but the food portions are huge and so cheap! The waitress' were nice too, recommending some good choices

“always fresh, always good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

i've been going to mona's since back when it still looked like the gas station that it once was and the only seating was out doors because the kitchen and bakery took up all of the building. its since changed with a large indoor seating area but they still have outdoor seating and thats where you'll find me except on the hottest of days. the menu has since grown and they've maintained the quality with each addition. the hummus is my favorite in the city, great falafal and kibbey. fried cheese appetizer is really good. this place serves huge entrees that come with a nice fresh salad and hummus and bread from their bakery. and they're cheap! i eat there at least twice a month and the only reason i didn't give them an excellent rating is because once in awhile the fryer grease needed to be changed but that is the only complaint i've ever had in twenty years of going there. they have a store on premises where i shop for cheese, labne, yogurt and baked goods. besides bread they also make spinach pies and other goodies so after my meal i do a little shopping. their spices are fresher and cheaper than the grocery store. this place rocks! dining solo or a large group this place is a winner.and tons of vegetarian options too.

“Worth the visit just for the Hummus!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

The best lebanese food around! It would be worth the visit just for their hummus! Try the Lula kabob (mix of beef and lamb) great! The lebanese tea is great as well. Lots of food for a very reasonable price.
