“Superb food. Excellent service. Not cheap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We ate here on a Monday night. Unlike other reviewers, we didn't notice a preponderance of business customers.
The service we received was exemplary - attentive but not overwhelming.
My wife had rabbit and I had the filet mignon. The meal was amongst the best we've had anywhere.

“A bit disappointing...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We were very excited about having dinner reservations at Mr. B's Bistro for our last evening in NA largely based on TA reviews and advice from the travel forum. It seemed like it should have been a "can't miss" experience from both the food and the service perspective, but, unfortunately it fell a little short of expectations.

If I were to equate it with somewhere in Chicago I'd say it's like Gibson's -- loud, bustling, a place to be seen. Large parties clearly on expense accounts being given great attention. On the otherhand, we, as just a pair of tourists, were seemingly invisible. We were actually place right need a computer station where the waitstaff entered orders, but, our team, I think there were three different people who served our meal, repeatedly looked right past us. Subsequently, there were long breaks when we sat waiting for our next course. Even getting the check required "flagging down" another person to let our lead waiter know we were ready.

Topping off the "averageness" of the evening, I ordered their signature dish, the BBQ shrimp, which, sadly, was messy and one-dimensional. (My wife had the rack of lamb which she enjoyed.) I really wished we had opted for one of the mainstay restaurants like Arnaud's, Brennan's or Galatoire's instead. Maybe next time.

“Great atmosphere, uninterested staff for 2 top”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This is a great place to go if you are a business traveler and want to impress your clients. Unfortunately my wife and I went unnoticed most of the night because the tips are where the people are and if there are big groups in the restaurant you suddenly become invisible to the wait staff. Limited menu. Gumbo was average...but lamb chops were the best we've ever tasted. Took us 20 minutes to refresh our drinks. Can't say I would go back again based on our experience. Le Meritage at Maison Dupuy hotel was much better for the same price.

“Mr. C's: Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

In a city know for off the hook eating, Mr. B's is very average. No signature dish or style that draws you in. The word institution sometimes has a bad meaning and I'm sorry to say in this case Mr. B's is an institution. Go to Bayona or Muriels for inventive dishes with New Orleans flair.

“Make reservations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This place gets really busy, lots of business people. We had our name on the list for a table, but after about 20 minutes got 2 seats at the bar. We ended up just eating there, and really enjoyed ourselves. Talk to people around us and had a really good meal and drinks.
