“Crazy good biscuits...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Love this place! We dined her for breakfast three days in a row. This 100+ year old restaurant is charming and was right around the corner from our hotel. It also serves breakfast until 2:30, so - again, perfect! We were traveling with a teenage boy who never gets enough to eat, and he was extremely happy here each morning. Service is very quick, and the menu is small but comprehensive. Coffee is excellent and gets refilled often without asking. Each day our son had the grillades and grits - they make theirs with pork instead of beef - and each day he scraped the plate clean. I got the plantation breakfast - ham, grits, eggs over easy - and it was wonderful; the ham was so tasty, and the grits were wonderful and flavorful, just like my mothers. My husband - each day - ordered the Sis' Soul Food omelet - cheese, tomatoes, onions, peppers, sausage and bacon - with grits on the side and he loved it. We were ALL thrilled with their biscuits - do NOT miss them! I consider myself somewhat of a biscuit snob, having grown up in a family of southern women who pride themselves on their biscuits, so when I tell you that this place's biscuits are ALMOST as good as mine, trust me, that's as high a compliment as I'm able to give (lol). They are perfect. Love this restaurant for breakfast, highly recommend it.

Calas Cakes and an exquisite, hyper-spicy Bloody Mary at this 120 years old restaurant will keep you going until dinner. This is Vieux Carre

“Great for Late Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

They serve breakfast until 2:30 pm so that was ideal for us. They were very busy so we had a fifteen minute wait but followed by very quick service. We both had the Plantation Breakfast of two eggs, ham, big biscuit, home fries, coffee, and callas cakes. Its rare to find callas which is a fried rice ball with confectionary sugar and maple syrup can be poured over it. A real breakfast dessert!

“Thanks Food Network!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We wanted to find this place thanks to it being mentioned a couple of times on Food Network. The dishes that Guy F. ate (mentioned specifically on the menu) are wonderful and even better is the stuffed chicken. Such a lovely outside seating issue with a beautiful artwork. It is a classic home turned into a restaurant from what we were told so it is awesome to get some of the history of the city as you eat.
