“the best food in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I have eaten all of the united states and nothing has even come close to Jack Dempsey's. Everything is GREAT. I recommend the fried red fish. The fried catfish is also great. You have to get the onion rings and mac and cheese. The staff is great and is concerned only about you enjoying your meal..

“Bring the kids!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Jack Dempsey's is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. This is a family restaurant with friendly staff. It's no frills decor and focussed on the food. The menu has grilled and fried options for some of the best seafood in town. The seasoning is light and spot-on perfect! I had oysters on the half shell and a combo of fried shrimp and catfish on my last visit. Previous visits had the redfish and my favorite, stuffed flounder. Every visit there have been families that the staff seems to know well, so it's mostly regular customers.

“Flavor-Flavor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

This place is hard to find. But well worth it. Today I took some business friends there for lunch. We all had the broiled trout with seafood stuffing. An excellent dish, very flavorful, but not overly seasoned. Try the macaroni and cheese. It's great! And if you don't have to go back to the office- the ice cold mugs of beer are an excellent way to quench your thirst.

“My personal favourite in NOLA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

You have to drive to get there, but once you are, the staff are great, they serve the world's best onion rings and you'd better have a fridge in your hotel room because you are leaving with some of your meal in a take-away box. Catfish, redfish, crab, all the seafood is great.

“Halloween Weekend Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My husband had the JD Fish Ponchatrain, I had broiled redfish topped with crabmeat. Both portions were generous and we had more to eat the next day for lunch. Our friends had a seafood stuffed mushroom app. followed by a combo fried crawfish & catfish platter. They were very happy and also had enough for lunch the following day. We were also offered specials on beer but I opted for an Old Fashion. Let me tell you our server knew what she was doing when preparing my cocktail. Who cares about the decor when you have such simply wonderful food! If you want pretentious & fancy go some where else. This place is a GEM! We will diffintely return!
