Description: The Pelican Club, offering a wide range of fabulous New Orleans dishes, consists of three dining rooms and a large bar fashioned from a handsome, 19th-century French Quarter townhouse, rising from the corner of Bienville Street and Exchange Place in the heart of the French Quarter. Owner, Richard Hughes, and his wife, Jean Stinnett-Hughes, transformed a neglected architectural gem into a welcoming restaurant decorated in a crisp blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has its own ambiance, created with such diverse elements as burnished Louisiana cypress, contemporary paintings by New Orleans artists, antique prints, and the dramatic contrast of black-leather banquettes against cream-colored brick walls. Such an atmosphere is sure to make your meal feel like a truly New Orleans experience.

Enjoyable art in this lovely restaurant . Great service from our waiter and he was knowledgeable re wines and menu. Goat cheese salad, gumbo and black drum were the favorites among our group of 8. Dress up some for The Pelican, you will be glad you did.

“Great restaurant, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Food was fabulous. Big, but not too big, menu insures that everyone can find something that sounds great (and will be). They have a 4-course Prix Fixe as well as an a la carte menu. Food and service were great. Nice bar area.

We sat outside in the courtyard, it was beautiful. It has an excellent childrens menu, not a nugget in sight! Our food was excellent & service great & we were greeted with a very warm welcome.

“romantic dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We had eaten here about 4 years ago when we were in New Orleans and decided to go again. My wife had gumbo and a crab cake and I had drum, a wonderful salad, and a nice Macon Village Chardonnay. Very good meal and service.

“Higher end Great Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Well, you usually get what you pay for and the food our group had at The Pellican Club was excellent. The main course is priced separately at this restuarant price point so when you add up all your meal you will likely be looking at a bill north of $60 per person for full dinner with a beverage or two. The building has a cramped entrance area with bar which jammed up badly making it hard to get in to check in. It was cool on our visit night so few people wanted to wait at the tables in the alley out front. Room at the bar was very limited.
