“A grand old lady!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The Bon Ton is one of our favorite places in New Orleans. Darlings, we are growing older. Please let us age as gracefully as this wonderful place!

Yes, the menu is predictable. Yes the tables are close together. Yes, you should make a reservation. Yes, they are closed on Saturday nights!

All that and some of the best food we have had in New Orleans! We love it. Be sure to try the gumbo...it is one of the best in the city.

“Over-priced and tourist-trap-like”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We went to the Bon Ton Cafe because we had seen the crab meat au gratin dish on The Best Think I Ever Ate TV show. While that dish was pretty fantastic, all of the other dishes that we ordered were underwhelming. The prices were too high for such a casual atmosphere and cuisine. We had just gone to John Besh' August the night before - same prices, 10 times better food. If the prices were $5-$10 cheaper, I think I'd be giving a slightly better review.

“Great crawfish etouffee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

Went here for lunch hoping that the lunch menu prices would be less expensive then dinner prices but it appears to be the same menu/pricepoint for both. We ordered crawfish etoufee which came with a salad and one side (onion rings, boiled potatoes or vegetable). The house dressing was a creole mustard vinaigrette which was very good and hot french bread was brought to the table. Tried the Rum Ramsey cocktail which is their signature cocktail and was pretty strong but not a favorite. Probably would do the other recommended Bloody Mary next time. This is a nice choice for a meal and the crawfish was plentiful in our entree. Recommend but expect to spend some $$. Service was welcoming and efficient.

“Good food and very warm service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Bon Ton Café is a friendly restaurant with a lot of atmosphere. William, the waiter, was friendly and eager to please. The food was a bit disappointing to me, I had the fried oysters, which I had never tried before and did not happen to like. However, other family members were quite happy with their dishes.
