“Good New Orleans landmark”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Beignets are the only thing on the menu except milk and coffee. Been here many times before. This is an open air original beignet restaurant at the corner of Jackson Square. Great place to people-watch. Good place to meet and visit in the French Quarter.

“A must stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

I was in NOLA for business, and up early, so I walked to the cafe for a cup of coffee and beignets. They give you three, and I probably would have been fine with one, but I finished them off. The coffee was fantastic.

“Must-Do in NOLA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

Great place to people watch, much more crowded on weekend. Limited menu. Drink prices too high, but beignets reasonably priced and tasty. Souvenirs available, wait staff should thank customers who tip. Cash only for this traditional thing to do in French Quarter. There are two lines, one is a takeout window.

“Need to see it, yes. Just not for breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Cafe Dumonde September 21st. Okay this is like my fifteenth time to go for coffee and beignets and I always ask why. It is an institution to be experienced but my recommendation is to do it in the afternoon or late night for a rebound. Why? There are so many great places to eat BLD in New Orleans so why waste it on donuts? That's ALL they serve and getting in (after waiting in line) is like running into a Bruce Springsteen free concert...every man for them self as there is no order or semblance of manners in a free-for-all (which is another reason to avoid this place for breakfast). Value? Yes. Ambiance? Yes (on a pretty day). Super touristy.
If it's raining, another reason to avoid especially in warm weather when you end up with 200 more soaked wet dogs in a make-shift sauna. Experience it but not as one of the 3 meals...you have far better choices. Cash only.
