“World Class Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We are spoiled in living in the Bay Area with amazing restaurants. So, in order for me to write a review about food in another city, the bar is already set very high. Stella! exceeded my expectations on all fronts. First class service, food and wonderful atmosphere. I noticed that other reviewers thought the food pricing was expensive, but relative to San Francisco or New York, the prices were reasonable in my view and in line with the quality and creativity you expect out of a restaurant like this.

“Outstanding Experience- not as outstanding food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We spent a good evening at Stella that was an outstanding experience. We selected the four course option.
Pros:
1. Ranked a 4 due to the wonderful service, the pleasant customer service focus, and the presentation of the food. We had a wonderful, friendly waitress and team that explained everything, not sure what the other reviews were referring to.
Cons:
1. You will likely only do this once, due to the cost as well as the food. The food quality/taste did not match the beautiful plate presentation.
2. If the quality/taste was better this would have been rated a 5. The cost is not a driver of this rating because you have an idea of the cost before dining there.

“An expensive but not outstanding dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

My friend and I had the 4 course fixed price dinner at $85 pp and each paid an additional $15 for lobster. First course was stuffed egg with caviar- Tasty. 2nd was Tiger Prawns- Good. 3rd course was the lobster which was size of a hot dog and was medium rare.- Very disappointing. Service was very good and room was pleasant. We rehashed the dinner later and both agreed it was not the experience we expected for the price. Place was full, so we may be too picky, but for close to $200 pp it should be outstanding. It wasn't.

“Not just Dinner - It's an Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We had the preset dinner with pairing. It's very pricey but worth it to us. We tried foods we would have never tried before. We learned about pairings with different foods. It really was an amazing experience. The staff were all wonderful to us and patient with our many questions. If you can afford the price tag - it would be well worth it!

“Not for Everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

My wife and I were looking forward to visiting Stella last weekend. However, I wish that we had been forewarned as to the type of menu at Stella. Like many of the notable new or highly acclained restaurants, Stella uses a fixed price or tasting menu. (Think Oxheart in Houston, McCrady's in Charleston or Providence in LA). In this case, you may choose between a 4 or 7 course menu. While they will let you pick and choose between the two menus, I felt constrained.

Make no mistake, the food is excellent! You will not be disappointed with what you eat. The menu items are all interesting and the confluence of flavors in each dish is amazing. The service is stellar and the atmosphere is beautiful. I was disappointed with the wine list which I felt was limited...and expensive. For example, a white burgundy will usually pair well with seafood so I looked for any Montrachets. I found four but they ranged from $950. to $2000!

If you prefer a top notch gourmet retaurant then you will love Stella. If you are looking for more
traditional New Orleans fare then you will probably not appreciate Stella. This is a very fine restaurant but not for everyone.
