The staff at the Maison DuPuy recommended this as a place they liked to eat, and we were glad they did. We ate at 9 restaurants in NOLA and this was our favorite.
The place is comfortable, the staff is friendly, knows the food and is just accomodating, not smothering. We were surprised by the whole, boiled, red poatatoes served instead of a bread basket. They were served with butter and had been cooked to melting tenderness in what tasted like chicken stock and a crab boil seasoning. Very good.
Everything we ate was very good, but the standouts were the gumbo and ettouffe; excellent. We spent a fortune dining somewhere else on our last night and wished we had just gone back to Deanie's.
