Recommended by our concierge at Hotel Mazarin for our 5th anniversary dinner, Bayona was only a short walk away and down from Bourbon St. We were treated to a luxurious French-inspired gourmet meal without fuss or pretense. We didn't really know a lot about the chef (she's famous in her world) or the cuisine but the staff was helpful and took their time to make sure we understood the food and the flavors we would experience. I was so enthralled I even used all my silverware in the wrong order but our server simply brought more. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed and though we were the first to arrive at opening by the time we left the place was quite full.
The value and pricing was really amazing. We found this true all over the French Quarter. Without the bottle of champagne, this exquisite dinner cost about the same amount as we would have paid for our typical meal at Hillstone which is a SHARED meal of one salad, one filet mignon, one baked potato, one dessert and 2 coffees, and two drinks for about $100 before tip. As for the bottle of champagne, we were worried at one point that it was never ending so that was a good value too!!
