“A NOLA Classic, But...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

We were visiting New Orleans for the first time, and we were interested in trying out one of the older, established restaurants. We read where Antoine's has changed hands and is not as good as it once was, and that Brennan's also had new owners and has suffered the same fate. But Arnaud's seemed to be a good choice--and it was. That said, we were still a bit disappointed. My asparagus was thick and a bit past its prime (it comes doused with hollandaise--which I hate--unless you specify otherwise, which I did. The heralded potato puffs were good, but they were just over-glorified fried potatoes. Our filets were tasty, but not melt-in-your-mouth awesome. The filets are topped with bearnaise sauce. Now, I am not a fan of bearnaise sauce either and requested that mine not have any--which was honored. But my hubby loves bearnaise sauce--and he said it was very mediocre at best. This was a bad surprise for him. (Note--this is a French restaurant and they sauce everything unless you tell them not to!) Our dessert was delicious.
The staff was very attentive. The ambience is antiques and wood, but red-and-white stripped entryway is a bit jarring

All in all, we weren't sorry we went--we'd give it a B or B+. But were were expecting much more considering its reputation--and the price. We still recommend it--after all, it is an worthy old-time NOLA standard. But will we go back? No. We've been there, done that. (GWFins across the street is a different story. Best place in NOLA. We would go back there in a heartbeat!)

“Good, classic NOLA food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

We tried the fish meniure after asking and being told this was a staple on the menu for many, many years. It was excellent. The service is captain's style so while attentive, there isn't much interest by the staff chatting and getting to know one another. This has a great atmosphere and is a good choice for classic, traditional NOLA food.

“Good service - ok food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

We went for dinner on Friday night and had fish specials with sides of okra and asparagus. The fish was good but not worth the price. The aspargus was under cooked. The okra was okay, but again not worth the price. The service was good - waiter was very attentive and several folks came by and our glasses were never empty. We said we would probably skip this restaurant on our next trip.

“Very good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We and our friends had a lovely dinner here. The meals were all excellent and service was superb. We were told the men were required to wear jackets but there were many there without them.

“Great Easter Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We came here for Easter Brunch and had the prix fixe menu. The crawfish and soup were amazing. The music was great and the atmosphere was very traditional and upscale. The lemon ice cream was refreshing, but the chocolate egg cake was way too rich.

The traditional New Orleans servers was also a great addition to this great restaurant.

The view of Bourbon was interesting, albeit a bit loud. However, that's what you expect in NOLA.
