“So hard to fault”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

Whole meal here was excellent. Ceviche was an excellent Louisiana take on a classic dish. Gumbo of the day was a hit. Confit duck on dirty rice was just delicious, and confirmed where a all the garlic wafting from the kitchen was heading for. Desserts were the best of the trip- a banana pie that couldn't be better, and Meyer lemon doughnuts that disappeared damn quick.

Limited, but perfectly acceptable, selection of wines by the glass, which is handy given the wide range of flavours in the menu as a whole.

Probably my fave meal of the trip. A little quieter than some places we are, offering a short oasis in an otherwise pretty manic few days.

“Gastropub! Great meal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

We really enjoyed all the food/drink - some of the best in the city, for sure!

Innovative French-style Creole. Think Paris meets New Orleans. Clearly, they change up the menu often here. We had a slow-cooked lamb neck (a very odd thing for most people, but I grew up on Neck stews) that was incredibly tender and flavorful, and a wonderful rabbit pasta dish. The rabbit was very sweet and tender.

They recommended some nice cocktails that we really enjoyed - a Sazaurac (sp?).

The only downside was that the Hostess tried to seat us in the bar area at a tiny table - we had made these reservations months ago! A quick complaint got us a better table. I don't understand why they would do that when there are better tables empty and I had a reservation. I hope the owner sees this and reviews this with the Hostess. :)

“Makes a lie of the saying that you can't get a bad meal in New Orleans”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Rude and indifferent waiter. One hour and fifteen minutes to serve entrees which arrived cold, overcooked and tasteless.A polite complaint to the manager earned no apology and two stale complimentary desserts. An astonishingly bad experience in what is supposed to be a superior restaurant.

“Very Gourmet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The food was very gourmet. Nothing ordinary on the menu. The menu was limited but had several small plates along with a few entrees. Each and everyone was fabulous. I can't believe I loved the rabbit. It may have been my favorite. The steak, and the shrimp and grits, were both ordered at our table. Both were very good. The wine list and cocktails available were extensive. A gourmet restaurant you will love because not one person was snooty. The atmosphere and service was very comfortable. A good walk from Canal street but not impossible and worth it.

“Have the Shrimp and Grits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

As always my party of 4 was blown away by the food at Herbsaint. Professional friendly waiters are always ready to recommend something new for the evening. A must have menu Item however is the Shrimp and Grits; perfectly prepared the way a low-country dish should be.
