“Could have been perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I so badly want to give it a 5 for the food and service alone, but I can't. First off, we were told an hour wait and were not seated for an hour and a half. After we were seated, it was 10 minutes until our waiter got to us. Then it was another short wait until we got our wine. Now I'm assuming they were out of red wine glasses because our Syrah was served in white wine glasses that had seemingly just been washed because there was water on the edge of the glass and the glass was cold. Okay, with all of that said....the food was amazing. The Oyster's Irene are fantastic. Our entrees were excellent and the atmosphere was lovely.

“Best service and cheesecake!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

Our server Antoine was spectacular. Professional, courteous and attentive. We came into the restaurant with no reservation in the middle of a rain storm, and they made us feel welcome. Short wait with a great bottle of wine. Ribeye done to perfection, delicious fish. The Cheesecake will become a family legend.
Looking forward to our return trip!

“Namesake got us a table!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Food, staff great. Noise level, a little loud. What we like best was that we showed up without a reservation on a busy weeknight, but Charmaine the hostess kindly sat us when she learned my name is Irene. Although really busy, the staff was great. We had been warned that we were being seated in a noisy room, so we knew what we were in for. The food was excellent; service good considering how busy it was with a kagillion people waiting for tables. All in all a good experience.

“Worth the wait...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

and be prepared to wait. Make it a part of your evening. We always have late afternoon oysters somewhere. Travel down to Irene's and put our name in. Head to Lafitte's for a hurricane and then maybe to Harry's for a drink. Back to Irene's to sit in the piano bar. A warm cozy place where we discuss what will be on the menu that night. The steak, pasta, and seafood dishes are all outstanding. There are other places with great food in NOLA but not only is the food wonderful but the service is perfection! I always get the feeling of being welcomed. Just be patient, prepared, and wait. The magic is there. P.S. Save room for the cheese cake.
