I had heard so much about this place, and expected a great deal. Not only were my high expectations not met, but it really would've been disappointing by chain steakhouse standards.
First of all, the menu was overtly bizarre. I'm all for getting out of the box, and usually willing to try almost anything. But the offerings on this day's menu were so strange, most didn't even sound appetizing. There were really no Cajun-esque offerings, which I expected being in New Orleans. Settled on chicken gumbo and burgers at a cost of $24/head plus drinks, tax, and gratuity. There wasn't even a steak on the menu...just bizarre.
Our server was aloof, but quick to warn us that the "order 30-minutes in advance" chocolate soufflé wasn't very good and tended to be overcooked. Thanks!...honest at least.
After a 40-minute wait in a half-empty restaurant, our burgers arrived. No one seemed the least bit concerned with the ridiculous wait. In fact, they almost seemed amused by it...again, bizarre.
The burgers were good...cooked perfectly, but nothing unusual at all. I've had equals all over the place. The fries were soggy. Just an all-around bad experience. This place has obviously rested on its name, which is a shame. Never again.
