“No complaints here!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2011

Only great experiences with the lobby/housekeeping staff! Hotel is nice and clean, though not overly-lavish, and located near the Quarter. Asked for a quiet room with a window (not all rooms have them) at time of on-line reservation, and was given a nice quiet room on the 12th floor. (Note: We made reservations for a smoking room--make sure your reservation reflects your preference here.) Used our Wells Fargo points which made our stay most affordable. Not able to comment regarding complimentary breakfast as we are late-risers. Housekeeping staff was very accommodating as we never left the room early in the a.m. Upon leaving our room for the day, we informed lobby personnel that housekeeping could go in and clean, and our room was nice and clean upon our return in the evenings. Hotel can also provide a nice bag of extra towels hanging from your doorknob, which is a nice touch. Note that if you're using the Internet (free here where other hotels may charge a fee) and it remains idle for more than 20 mins. (Mac user), you will need to login again. Also was not able to logon to internet with iTouch, even after talking with tech support. Complimentary use of the printers in their business center on the 2nd floor was a plus. Nice central location close to a number of streetcar lines (Canal/St. Charles), as well as the City bus that goes down Magazine Street which will drop you off close to the WW II Museum, amongst other attractions, as well as taking you to the Magazine St. shopping district (boutique shopping/antiques/restaurants) for $1.25 fare. Also close to the streetcar that runs along the Mississippi River which will take you as far as Jackson Square/French Market with a short 2-3 block walk to Frenchman Street for the jazz clubs. Hotel is also a close walk to the Riverwalk indoor mall, Harrah's casino and the ferry to Algiers. All in all, a good value for the money and optimally located!

The St. Christopher's Best Western in New Orleans is downtown and in a great location for touring the city. You do have to pay $27.00 to have your vehicle valet parked, so keep that in mind. But our problems were with the hotel staff.

When we called to make reservations, we asked if pets were allowed. The rep at the 1-800 Best Western number said the fee was $22 a night for pets. I told him we had two dogs. He said that that would be $22 for the pet fee for the one night we booked.

However, upon check out, the bill showed that I had been charged $20 per pet on my credit card, a total of $40.00. I told the desk clerk this was not what I had been told when I made my reservation. She called over the manager who came to talk with me fifteen minutes later. The manager argued that the Best Western website states the pet policy is $20 per night. It doesn't. For this hotel, it says to call to verify the pet fee.

Disgusted, and realizing that the manager would not budge and take off the extra $20, my husband and I left the hotel. I also told the manager that our room had been booked as one with a city view and all we got was a view of a brick wall and that in the morning, a maintenance man walked on the ledge right outside our third floor window and looked in on us! The manager wasn't bothered or apologetic.

After our trip, I posted a complaint at the Best Western site and heard from someone from the hotel. She refused to refund my $20.00.

I do not like to complain. But this, to me, was downright rude. Since I was told the pet fee was only $22, then charged $20 for each pet and then when I argued was told if I had only looked up the policy on the website, I would have known it, frustrates me.
And in addition, having a hotel maintenance man looking in on us from a window was just creepy!

Too bad the Best Western St. Christopher doesn't have a satisfaction guarantee like the Hampton Inns do. Had the hotel corrected their mistake, I would be so much happier. Yes, this did affect our last day in New Orleans. What a shame.

We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication of the BW pet policy and fees. This policy’s posted on BW website to avoid these types of misunderstanding, nonetheless, whenever a guest have an issue we address it in away to accommodate the guest to make their stay with us enjoyable. Again we apologize for the misunderstanding.

I stayed here last week. I have mixed feelings about my stay. The pros are that the location is good & staff responded to my requests in a somewhat helpful way. The cons are that the hotel was a little loud, one of the beds had several black hairs & a small bug (NOT a bed bug) in the sheets before anyone had been in it & the comfortor & pillows were filthy. I requested that the bedding be changed & they came & took care of it. The shower worked just fine & the room was decent sized. I have stayed in worse places but was really put off that the bedding was so dirty. I'm not sure I would stay here again even though the location is great.

Our Room was reletively clean, but it didn't have ANY WINDOWS ! We asked for 1 Queen Sized Bed and we were given 2 Doubles. Unfortunately there was a Conference in town and those guests apparently took priority.

The Breakfasts were decent and enough to start an early day of sightseeing.

If you're not at this Hotel to be pampered and you just need a Room to sleep in, then this is the place. It's clean and affordable. End of Story.

Room Tip: Make sure your room has windows!

Since our hotel is located in a 120 year old building, we have established 3tiers of room to apprise guest of this situation. A double room with a view is available at a higher rate. However If you book through a 3rd party site like book it. They do not guarantee the type of room provided. We recommend you book directly through our website to avoid these types of issues. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

We stayed at this hotel for the Jazz Festival and what a great find. Located right off Canal Street a short walk to the French Quarter. The rooms were not fancy but neat and clean, beds comfortable, however I would recommend paying the small upcharge ($20) for a room with a window. The staff was accomodating and friendly. Breakfast and great coffee every morning in the lobby/bar area. The bartender was WONDERFUL, we loved her. We will definately stay here again.

We needed a hotel for 1 night in New Orleans and selected the St. Christopher based on other reviews. It was "OK" but I wouldn't stay there again.

It is an older hotel that has been refurbished and it has much more character than Best Western chain hotels. It also has TINY rooms. We got a king room, and the bed literally took up the entire room. There was nowhere to set down an open suitcase! There was also no closet in which to store clothes and the suitcase.

The location is decent, 1/2 block from Canal Street on the opposite side from the French Quarter. The room was quiet until a delivery truck started beeping right outside our window at about 5 a.m. The breakfast buffet was disappointing. I have hypoglycemia so was hoping for some form of eggs or other protein, but it was nothing but carbs.

The front desk staff were absolutely delightful, as was the lady manning the breakfast station. Valet parking is available but expensive (I think we paid $30 for the night). It is off premises, so you have to wait awhile for your car to be delivered.

The entire hotel is beautifully decorated and extremely clean, the public areas are roomy enough, but our guest room was truly claustrophobic.

We traveled with pets and although we both smoked, pets were not welcome above the 2nd floor which was understandable since the room was adjacent to the lobby atrium and smoking rooms were above the 2nd floor only. Great hostess, great access to the French Quarter and Harras Casino, Starbucks Coffee (in Harras), restaurants, parks for the dogs and everything a body could possibly need. We tried to stay another night but with the French Quarter Festival that proved impossible but either my partner or myself will definitely be staying at this friendly hotel on our next visit.

Room Tip: 205 has an interesting floor plan. Skylights.
