“Excellent tour company”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

My husband and I booked a combination swamp and plantation tour on our honeymoon. The driver, Ceasar, picked us up from our hotel, took us out to see the sights, and dropped us back off at our hotel. We really enjoyed the convenience of not having to drive and were glad to pay a little more for the pickup service. Their prices, compared to other companies, were very reasonable.

Our first stop was the swamp. Cajun Pride owns their own swamp and they hand-raise many of the alligators on their land. The staff will rescue alligators who are in danger of being shot because of their location, and will re-located the gators to their land. Captain Al was very knowledgeable about the swamp, ecosystem and the gators. He fed them raw chicken and marshmallows! We also saw a friendly family of raccoons, who also eat marshmallows. It was a very hot day, and so we did not see the larger gators (they hide out in the mud to stay cool) but we saw a ton of smaller gators. At the end of the tour everyone got to hold a small 4 year old alligator, which was my favorite part of the trip.

Our next stop was to the Laura Plantation. The plantation tour was interesting and the main house was very pretty. It was very hot that day, and so we especially enjoyed the parts of the tour in the air conditioned house. The plantation also has some original slave cabins and some nice gardens.

On the combination tour you have a choice of Laura or Oak Alley plantations. I would recommend Laura--they tell you the story of the whole plantation and the family that built it. Oak Alley is very beautiful but I have heard that the tour is not as interesting.

My only complaint would be that there was no lunch stop. There was a small shop that sold cold sandwiches at the swamp and the Laura gift shop sold snack food, but there was no specific time set aside to eat. Either plan to buy a sandwich at the swamp or bring your own food to eat on the bus.

“Gator tour!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

We easily saw 50-60 gators as well as snakes and other wildlife. Our tourguide was fantastic and a bayou native. He even had a baby alligator on board and passed her around so you could take your picture while holding her. Very fun. You can get a discount from a tourist shop on canal street and they provide transportation if you need it.

“Excellent tour for whole family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We booked a swamp/plantation combo tour and were pleased with both. Our tour guide Ceasar was absolutely fantastic; was knowledgeable on New Orleans and surrounding areas; and was most accomodating. We saw lots of wildlife on the swamp tour and were very impressed with Oak Alley Plantation. I would definitely recommend Cajun Pride Tours. This company clearly takes pride in its tour offerings, knowledge of local areas and customer service. Job well done, Cajun Pride!

“3 hours of comfort and great guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We happened upon the tour kiosk by accident and decided to try the 3 hour package. It was well worth it. A very personable and knowledgeable guide took us everywhere, including the still recovering 9th ward, a cemetery, every district. We got out at the park for a beignet and coke and spent most of the time listening to the local history and facts in cool comfort.

“Swamp tour - excellent!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

Did the swamp tour utilizing a Living Social coupon. Great deal. Fortunately took the 9:30 am boat ride and beat the heat. Excellent captain described both what we were seeing and the fast history tied to the area. The new season of "Haunted Highways" on the History channel had shot an episode which will air in the next few weeks. Great time in getting close to the local wildlife. Even held a small gator! Very worthwhile when in N. O.
