“It's not the Ritz, and you won't be pampered, but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Just read The review by the lady who stayed here over Christmas, wonder if we met at breakfast or in the lobby, as we spent three days at the same time at this property. She is correct that the light breakfast buffet was sometimes iffy, and they did run out of eggs once, but the attendant was more than apologetic, and made every effort to correct shortcomings. AND - The hot breakfast is free, as is a light evening meal served mid-week nights, which includes a more than adequate hot buffet, plus complimentary wine and beer. More than makes up for a few glitches if one is patient.
There is no fancy marbled lobby, just two friendly, knowledgeable people who know how to solve problems and get things done. They know the city, give great directions, know how to get your FREE with-if up and running.
Staybridge Suites sits at the edge of the French Quarter, in a cluster of toney, high priced hotels, but why pay the $$$ of a Sheraton, mor the Lowe's Next door? Rooms here are clean, kitchens well stocked, and you can have full maid service every day if requested, or none at all. This suits me fine for a three day stay, just requested towels one. Despite being on the 17th floor, water pressure and temps were fine, which can be a problem in NOLA.
Self parking your car in the hotel's garage is an adventure beyond description, we loved the quirky old facility. Parking is expensive, check rates here vs commercial lot across the street. Ask the desk people how to get to Mother's, a block away, for breakfast or lunch. Loved by locals, it's pure, undiluted gastronomic pleasure - save the fine dining for another time.
BTW, this is a pet friendly hotel, but be aware that NOLA is one of the least pet perfect friendly cities you'll ever visit.... Noisy, no grass anywhere near most hotels.

Room Tip: As for a 17th or 18th floor room that faces the river

I consider myself easygoing but I found I had to keep asking to speak to kitchen staff almost every morning throughout my stay here to ask for common things like egg, yogurt and even cutlery.
Only one waffle machine was available for a hotel that size meaning long waiting time(about 30mins) to make one waffle.
Rooms were ok but floor carpet was dirty and stained 'Light cleaning consited of simple change of toilleteries and emptying trash cans. I had to ask for proper cleaning on the 5th day.

It is only logical that a family staying in a 2 bed suite would need some cleaning more than once a week!!

I have stayed in many hotels including other Staybridge suites in other cities and this hotel is just a bad experience as far as I am conncerned.

It almost ruined our Chrismas break. 'had to check out earlier because we had had enough.

Staff were generally friendly and helpful hence the 2 points but the kitchen staff for breakfast did not have a handle on things at all and would give excuses such as it suddenly became busy just now and around 7.00 am we were able to cope better. 'would you believe that?

I'm not sure I will be willing to try Staybridge hotels in cities I have not been to after this experience.

Hotel exceeded our expectations. Nice friendly staff, pleasant and spacious room and good service. There was a well equipped kitchenette with a stove and microwave. A morning healthy breakfast buffet was good, though they did run out of food towards the end. A nice surprise was a complimentary happy hour snack early evening (only from Tuesdays to Thursdays), which was almost a full meal. Parking was steep - just over 30$, but we could keep our car a few hours after check-out, so as to do more sightseeing in the French quarter. The location is great - within walking distance to French quarter and the port.

We stayed 1 night prior to leaving on a cruise. The hotel room was rather large and had a full kitchen. The room and furnishings were clean and modern. I used points to book this room which was a good deal. The hotel offers free internet and breakfast. There is a parking lot directly across the street from the hotel but there is a charge. We took a taxi to the cruise port in the morning - we offered the driver $10 and he accepted althought the standard rate is a little more for 2 people. I think it was $7 per person. We walked to the French Quarter from the hotel. The casino is only a block away. We took the shuttle at the airport for $20 a person to the hotel. A taxi ride is approximately $38 from the airport to the hotel.

Hotel offers excellent service. Staff at check-in polite and friendly, rooms are spacious and clean. We were quite surprise that there was no noise from adjoining rooms. Our suite had a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and dishwasher and a small dining area. Found internet connection slow to logon, but overall good quality. TV selection excellent. Complimentary breakfast good, however staff appeared to be less than enthusiastic to serve or clean up. Evening cocktail hour offered beer and wine and appetizers, however once again staff appeared to be less than enthusiastic to serve or even open up the white or red wine. This is based on our three day stay with the hotel. The lady who looked after the concierge service was a true delight - who went above and beyond her duties. In the morning, she went around to the guests in the breakfast area and lounge area to see if she could help guests in planning their stay in New Orleans (She definitely should be award the employee of the week, month and year award - a true ambassador for the hotel.) Hotel is located about a block and a half from Canal Street, with easy access to French Quarter. Mothers restaurant across the street is always good for lunch or dinner.
Drawback would be no complimentary shuttle to airport or cruise ships. A great hotel to stay at, would stay here again.

I'm a first time visitor to NOLA and wondered about the hotels there. The Staybridge was selected by the trip leader of our group and it turned out to be a very good decision. I'll tell you, I could not find one thing to complain about at the Staybridge.

Everything from the moment we arrived there made me feel welcome. The staff at the front desk throught our four night stay was great. The staff members in the dining room were very helpful and kept the food coming. They made sure the tables and the entire dining area was kept clean for us guest.

The one thing I regret was forgetting to leave a tip in the room for the young lady who kept our room nice and clean. She also deserves kudos for her job.

As you see, I really enjoyed my stay there and definately would stay there again. The Staybridge New Orleans gets a "100+" from me! Great location within walking distance to everything.

Staybridge Hotel, I'll see you again on my next visit to the "Big Easy"!

Prepay and save! This is a great hotel! If you know for sure your travel dates you can prepay for your stay and save a bunch of money.

We only stayed for two nights, but it is definitely set up for longer stays. Our room had a kitchen, spacious living area and two double beds.

1. The beds, bedding, room temperature, water pressure, etc. were all excellent.

2. Parking was competitively priced (as compared to lot prices) and is covered/gated.

3. Complimentary breakfast was good, but best if you get there closer to open.

Oh, and the location is perfect, walking distance to both the Convention Center and the French Quarter!

I will stay here again when visiting New Orleans!

Room Tip: The elevators (2) were very responsive, so high/low floor decision was not an issue. Closer to the e...
