“Enchanting Home, Amazing Hostess!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

I will admit, I ended up at Auld Sweet Olive due to a last minute snafu; in hindsight it was more like divine intervention! Nancy was the sweetest and most informative host. She was full of insightful tips and information. The home itself was both historic and immaculate, with all the comfortable accommodations we needed. I loved all the small thoughtful details, from the locally made soap in the room, to the homemade breakfasts featuring delicious pastries and local fruit, to the follow up letter I recieved when I got home. Dont miss out on this amazing stay! Thank you so much Nancy!

Green Features: From what I understood, Auld Sweet Olive was the first B&B in New Orleans to recieve a particular "Green" distinction.

This is an amazing B&B in a nice neighborhood. Nancy is a great host, the rooms are lovely, short walk to Frenchmen st (5 mins) and town centre (15 mins). Great breakfast.Highly recommend staying here - we would again.

Conveniently located in Faubourg Marigny, easy walking distance to Frenchman's street Jazz and Restaurants, staying with Nancy in this B&B was a wonderful experience. The lovely old home has kept its historic character, and still reflected a semi tropical lifestyle. The host was so welcoming, so knowledgeable, so accommodating and such a great cook. Breakfasts were a delightful surprise each morning. Nancy knew the city, gave good advice on what to see and how to get there, where to eat as an experience, or as a local.
We loved the accommodation and would recommend to any who want more than a hotel room.

Room Tip: No pool or fitness centre, neither of which would fit the ambience. Lovely courtyard garden and vera...

Auld Sweet Olive is my all-time favorite place to stay in New Orleans. I’ve been at Sweet Olive most weeks since October for business, and it’s absolutely perfect for business or leisure travel. The rooms are awesome and Nancy’s hospitality is incomparable. And the food…it’s perfect! There’s plenty to do within walking distance and only a $6 cab ride from the Quarter if you’re out late. My absolute favorite room is the Sweet Olive, followed closely by the Courtyard Suite and the Cypress Room. Really, the entire place is amazing. I even spent a day working in the sunny courtyard, and Nancy very kindly kept the coffee on for as long as I wanted. I can’t say enough about my time at Auld Sweet Olive, it really has been the highlight of my time in New Orleans.

Room Tip: The Sweet Olive Room is awesome with a great patio, though closer to the street. The Cypress Room is...

This is a great B&B, recently renovated and with a new inn keeper, Nancy Gunn, who is a charming hostess as well as a wonderful pastry cook.

We this is our second visit here, most recently in November 2013, and I have so say that I have never had such good breakfast faire. See the attached photos.

The house is vintage New Orleans and has to be seen to be believed. Keep in mind that this is an old house, and that's part of its charm. If you want a five star experience in the concrete box of a hotel suite with all mod con, this may not be the place for you.

There is a nice patio too, for warmer days, and the location couldn't be better: a nice walk to Frenchman's St. or the French Quarter; convenient to bus and trolley lines if you want to get to Canal St. or the Garden District. That said, there is plenty to see and do in Marigny and Bywater--just ask Nancy.

Room Tip: There is a room with palms painted on the walls including the bathroom, and as you lie in the tub it...

We spent two nights here early in November (2013) and loved the house and its location. It's about a 15 minute walk through pleasant residential neighborhoods to the heart of the French Quarter, but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. The room (Cypress Room) was beautifully decorated in a simple, but elegant design. Nancy is an engaging and helpful owner, who bakes some of the most wonderful breakfast items, in addition to providing a variety of self-serve breakfast choices, like cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, and more. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxed. We parked our hatchback on the street and had no problems, even though the covered back of the car was filled with camping equipment. We took several walks through the neighborhood and even walked home from a visit to Preservation Hall at about 10:15 pm, with no problems. If you needed a cab to get back, it would be easy to pick one up in the Quarter. The trip would be no more than a couple of minutes by cab or your own car. We were traveling for several weeks and our stay at the Auld Sweet Olive was definitely a highlight! We'll be back.

My husband and I decided to stay in a Bed&Breakfast for our Elopement weekend in New Orleans. First I was not entirely sure if I liked the idea since I am not too much into the furnishing and style most B&B tend to have. However, when we found Auld Sweet Olive online, I immediately liked the place and we did not get disappointed. It is beautifully furnished and not over loaded set in a quiet street. Nancy is the most wonderful, helpful and sweetest inn keeper. On our wedding day the rain came down in sheets, but very early in the morning Nancy offered us her house for the ceremony and photo shoot and literally saved the day for us! She even prepared a wonderful several layer wedding cake for us! The B&B is very peaceful and quiet, we always got very good sleep and the breakfast that Nancy makes every morning is delicious as others noted as well. It comes with several different homemade treats like Blueberry Scones, Banana Bread or the wonderful Eggs in Baskets. I liked the privacy, but yet Nancy is always there if you have any questions, such as recommendations on restaurants or places to visit. It is a nice walk to the French Quarter, but we also explored the Marigny and Bywater which offered some great restaurants (e.g. Maurepas). The best stay we have had in New Orleans so far! Highly recommended! We will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Couryard Suite which is more like a studio. Lots of room, very quiet, access to the...
