“A Haven In New Orleans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This is definitely my new "happy place". Located just a few blocks from the French Quarter and the Superdome, Harrah's New Orleans Casino Hotel rises 26 stories, tastefully overlooking the great Mississippi River. With 450 gorgeous rooms and suites, there is a space just calling your name. I know it was calling mine.

This is a hotel that you can really "settle into". Whether you are visiting for a long weekend or for an extended vacation, this reall feels like "home"... only a lot more luxurious! The pillowtop mattresses are probably among the most comfortable in the industry, and the bathrooms, complete with oversized tubs, contain every amenity imaginable.

And you might as well make a date with Lady Luck and venture into the casino. I mean, this place is great. This is definitely one of my favorite casinos, Vegas included. The ambiance is nothing short of inspiring, and every gaming option imaginable is there waiting… hopefully to give you money.

For those of you lucky enough to have earned a Diamond or Seven Star status with the lucrative Total Rewards player's program, you will also have special access to the Palms Room, a beautiful lounge boasting tasty bites and a full service bar. It is perfect for a quick treat before playing, or even for a meal... and it is all complimentary for Harrah's most rewarded players.

And Harrah’s is not all about gambling. The dining options are a reason to visit alone. I love Fuddruckers! This is by far the best burger in the world and, teamed with a heaping order of their famous fries, will satisfy even the biggest appetite.

We arrived at this hotel and was booked for one night, I asked if we could booked the next night and she looked and said it would be around $600.00, because there was a convention in town, This was during the week. We paid $109.00 for our room and said no thanks. I think there should be a law against price increases like this. No free wifi, Very dirty room, stains on the chairs, bedspread, carpet. The next morning I asked for the manager and showed them pictures of the room and got the room discounted 50%.

Good location, but I prefer cleanliness. There were sticky rings all over the coffee table and everything was dusty. We stayed for 6 nights and the only way we got the sheets changed (once) was to pull them off the bed and leave money on top of the mound of laundry. We had a great view of the river and the size of the room was good. If they kept the place clean, it would be a good value.

Hotel staff takes very good care of its guests. The hotel is in good location to the French Quarter. With Ruths Chris, Mannings, and several other Restaurants down stairs it even adds to the exprerience.

Wow ~ as soon as you walk in the lobby you are surrounded by marble, lots of glass, and gold & stainless steel trimmings... so bright and gleaming! The front desk & concierge are very welcoming and eager to please (although, just like another reviewer commented, "they are sometimes lacking in facts"). Beautiful rooms; one side of the building has the view of the river. Compared to Marriotts & Hiltons, their beds are probably one of the best I've slept in at this caliber of hotels with crisp bright white linens. I love the bathrooms... it's fit for a king; marble-floored bathroom is huge with large tub, glass surround shower (a bigger/wider/stronger and pulsating showerhead would be better) and separate enclosed toilet. Nice big thick fluffy towels & toiletries provided. Flatscreen tv and small refrigerator. Try their buffet: it has great selection and assortment. We also stayed at the neighboring Hilton the week prior, I prefer the rooms at this Harrah's Hotel much better though. 5 minutes walk (depending how fast you walk) to either Riverside along the water and French Quarter. Don't miss the chickory coffee & beignets at Cafe du Monde! Enjoy!

Our stay here would have been perfect except for one thing. The carpet was extremely dirty. We felt like we might catch something if we walked barefoot on it. The room should never have been released to rent. Although we had made reservations seven months in advance, they had a difficult time finding us a non-smoking room so we didn't complain that first night. The next day we talked to the housekeeper. She arranged to have it cleaned the next evening while we were out. It looked better but the carpet should be replaced

The good things-the room was large and well appointed. The bathroom was really nice. It was very large with a separate room for the toilet, so nice when sharing a bathroom. It had a large tub and a separate shower.

If you join the Harrah's Awards program, you get free wifi in your room at no cost.

The staff is very friendly.
