We used Interval for the first time to book this trip..The area itself is beautiful but I was a bit disappointed when we pulled up and noticed the hotel was right next to Don Juans live nude girls. I am from NY so I am not at all shocked by many things but..when the"dancers" wearing tassels as "tops" started playing with my 4 year old daughter and my then 1 year old daughter while outside on a ciggy break I thought it was a bit much. Next to Don Juans is "Conexxxtion "(a triple x book/clothing store). I should mention that besides myself and my husband we brought along our 3 kids (an 11 year old boy, 4 year old girl and 1 year old daughter)

The hotel suite itself was disgusting. Giant cockroaches all over. Huge ones. I took pictures of them crawling over a bagel I had just placed on the counter top in the kitchen. I turned to the fridge to get buttter, went to pick it up and it actually crawled on my hand... I was capturing them with my daughter's empty formula cans. My 4 year old was pointing them out on the walls. We called the front desk numerous times and someone was sent up to spray but it made no difference and actually made me worried that it could affect the kids so we stayed out of there as much as possible. the pool was very tiny but for us it was okay since our kids are little. The hot tub only fits 2 people. The wine and cheese tasting did not happen. The breakfast was available 1 day (cereal, yogurt, fruit) and the other days they only had apples set up in the lobby.
We had booked 7 days but did not stay the whole time. The last straw came when I was sitting on the couch and my husband said "don't move". A large rat, yes, not a mouse, a rat came from the closet, ran under where I was sitting and back into the kitchen in the cabinet. We called the front desk and they seemed pretty annoyed and sent up a maid who had to fill out a report. All she wanted to know was where it went. We checked out asap..Drove to Tenneesee and satyed there for 2 night in a Days Inn..we will be going back to Tennessee for another vacation..,

Although mainly a timeshare resort, The Quarterhouse in the French Quarter does rent out units on a per night basis. Excellent location on the edge of the Quarter on Chartres just off Canal St. Quiet, away from the boisterousness of Bourbon St. but only a couple blocks away. Lots of little places to eat and drink. Units are well-kept up and even if problems are encountered (our A/C didn't work) a solution is promptly found.
Helpful and friendly front desk staff. A little-mentioned, genuine find! Also, no hard (or soft) sell of timeshares. If you're interested, they'll fill you in.

I booked a week through Interval International on one of their getaway specials and when I go there the room I recieved was not the one I booked. It took six hours of waiting and making phone calls with Interval and the hotel before I received what I had booked. Interval blamed the problem on me and the hotel said that Interval had double booked the room. The problem that I had with Interval was that in order to get a refund they wanted me to check out of the hotel. How does that make sense??Where was I suppose to go?? I found the accomodations very clean, no mice, no cockroaches, plenty of hot water! The staff were friendly and took care of my needs. The building is very old, and is in constant need of upkeep. There is a Walgreens very close and an A&P market about 6 blocks away on Royal Street. I had a Saturday to Saturday reservation and when I came in my room on Friday before lunch all my laundry had been taken out of the dryer and half way folded and put in a chair. All my food had been thrown out, and all the papers I had kept from my meeting had been tossed! This was due to a no communication between the front desk and house keeping. They did offer to replace what they could, but what was the point. Overall, it was not the best of experience, but the price and location certainly make up for the other problems.

My wife and I needed to get out of the cold north to thaw out for a week. We exchanged our timeshare and went to New Orleans. Neither of us had ever been to the Big Easy and we had limited choices of where to stay. We choose the Quarter House due to it's proximity to the French Quarter.

We were not disappointed in the least with our accomodations. It is located in the French Quarter (SW section), well within walking distance to all the sights to see. Harrahs is a short walk from the Quarter House. We were able to relax and see everything we wanted to. Do go to the D-Day Museum...lots of history and artifacts there to enjoy.

We were able to do Bourbon Street, Harrahs, House of Blues, horse and buggy tour, puruse all the shops, eat at some of the more fancy restaurants (Three Sisters was great for the breakfast buffet) and try all the specialty drinks that abound in the French Quarter (Hand Grenades were powerful). And the Oysters...well, I couldn't get enough of them.

The facilities at the Quarter House were more than adequate. They were not luxurious suites but a nice comfortable place to retire after a day of walking around the French Quarter. Our room had kitchen facilities though we did not use it much. A bar next door to the Quarter House had $1.00 bloody Marys everyday which we usually took advantage of. The Quarter House has its charm and the staff was very helpful in directing you to the sights you wanted to see. I would conside this place more of a hotel than a resort. If you want to see the French Quarter, I would highly recommend this place.

When we checked in we were informed that due to Hurricane Katrina they had problems staffing the housekeeping staff and that rooms were only cleaned Fridays and Tuesdays. This was really no big deal to us since they still collected your trash and brought in fresh towels every day. Location is ideal. Two blocks from Boubon St. A little noisy due to the proximity, but my wife and I puchased a fan from the Walgreens down the block the first day to help block out the noise while we slept. Our room was a suite which was nicely furnished and clean. The folks at the front desk were always kind and helpful.
