We spent the week of September 18th through the 25th at the Quarter House. We had a one bedroom, one bath unit. There was a partial kitchen (everything minus an oven). This resort is located on the western end of the French Quarter and close to numerous restaurants, Harrah’s casino and the trolley stops nearby. The staff was very cheerful, professional and always there to assist. They helped with restaurant selections and tourist information. The resort hosted a wine reception with bread pudding and a Sunday brunch. We signed up for a walking tour arranged through the resort and it was very interesting and informative. We enjoyed it so much that we signed up for a cemetery tour the next day which was also really good. New Orleans is such a great city and the French Quarter always active with numerous street performers and artists. Just walking around in with all of the unique architecture and history is a real treat. One of the really fun things to do if you are into architecture is to get onto the Algiers Ferry (free for walk-ons) and spend some time in the Algiers neighborhood.
If you are planning on staying at this resort, one of the things that you must be aware of is that the units that border on Chartres Street are noisy at all times of the night. So if you are a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs. We were in Unit 305 and it is one of those street side units.
Even though we had a one bedroom unit, we shared it with some friends who used one of the fold out couches in the large living room. They found the couch relatively comfortable and even though there was only one bathroom, this was not an inconvenience. The master bedroom bed was also very comfortable.
The only negative aspect of the resort is that the internet was down for about half of the week that that we were there. If you are relying on the internet connection while staying here, beware!
All in all it was a great vacation and I would return to this resort again.
