“Good experience at Loews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

This hotel has a great location - close to the Quarter without being loud, easy to get to the Business district, next to Harrah's, good bar in the hotel. What really sets it apart is the great service and spacious rooms. It's a very comfortable place to be after carousing around NOLA. The workout room was large and the machines worked well. Pool area was very nice. My only complaint - and another reviewer mentioned it - are the showers. The shower curtain is rubber and it's hard to keep the water in the shower. Also, while the water pressure good (maybe too good) the shower head could be replaced. Nonetheless, the towels were soft and the counter had enough room for two guests to place their toiletries. We've stayed at many hotels in NOLA and this one deserves a return visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view.

We stayed at the Loews for a long weekend. We were given a room on the top floor with a beautiful view of the river. The room was large, clean and nicely furnished. The beds were very comfortable also. This hotel is not in the French Quarter, but it is only a short walk away. If you are in town for a convention the convention center is up the block and the casino is across the street if that's your thing.
What impressed me about this hotel was the excellent service and friendly treatment we received. They called you by your name and were happy to help in any way possible. Concierge and front door staff were particularly helpful. Special mention to Will, always helpful and polite. My only minor complaint was the room temperature seemed to only work at freezing or off and warm, but in fairness I did not ask to have it fixed. I would definetly stay here again if I am lucky enough to return to New Orleans.

Room Tip: High floor facing river

This hotel is an excellent place when it comes to custom care. The staff was friendly and very responsive to customers needs. This is complemented by very spacious clean rooms and bathrooms. However, I was not very much impressed with their showers which makes it easy to flood the whole bathroom. The shower head also need to be upgraded to meet the high standards of the hotel. The fitness room was very clean and fairly equipped to meet the general needs of an average fitness enthusiast. There is also a very nice pool on the same floor (8th floor) next to the fitness room and a sauna. The sauna, however was never switched on early enough, so could not use it. This hotel is located a few blocks from the French quarter and a walking distance to the Mississippi river waterfront . In general, this is a very nice place with staff who are conscious about their customers hospitality. I definitely recommend it as a hotel of choice in New Orleans.

Nice hotel located in the CBD near the Riverwalk & the Harrahs Casino. Some mildew type smell near the bar downstairs & bartenders quite slow & unattentive. Otherwise, front desk staff & bellmen extremely helpful & good service.

Just returned home from a business trip where I stayed 4 nights at this hotel. The staff at this particular Loews was outstanding and should be noted. I did not encounter an unfriendly staff member. Each person went out of their way to extend hospitality. James the concierge worked tireless for my business partner and I. His recommendations were excellent and perfect for us. Julio, the bellman should be praised. His smile was infectious, he was the most polite, respectful person that we encountered in the city. He went out of his way to help us and remembered our names each and every time we entered the establishment. I travel a lot and this hotel's customer service was a cut above the rest! We enjoyed our view of the Mississippi River, the elegant decor, and the close proximity of the convention center and French Market (both a short walk).

Room Tip: Rooms on higher level will get you a beautiful view of the Mississippi River.

I know Loews Hotels as standing out of the usual chain Hotels.
Unfortunately this Hotel makes an exception.
The rooms are big, but the furniture seems to be from the last century.
The carpet in my room did not make a clean impression, was stained, did not make me feel like in an upscale Hotel.
Bathroom was big also, but a touch up here and there would be a bright idea.
This Hotel to me did not have a luxury character, it was more the location that made it special.

Room Tip: Ask explicitly for a room on the highest three floors, the view is just nicer

This hotel is quite fine. Staff is friendly and tries to make you feel at home. They do pay attention to your bills, though. That could have been less obvious, in my view. The rooms are pleasant and spacious. The location of the hotel is ok. I can recommend it for a short visit to the Big Easy.
