“...it was just ok for a Renaissance Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2009

The Renaissance Arts Hotel was good, but I felt that they were trying too hard. The rooms were decent and spacious. The location was perfect, as I was for work as part of the Essence Festival. The valet service needed an attitude adjustment. Chris was great, but the others were borderline rude when I was dropping off and picking up my vehicle. The way they greeted me was not what I expected. Definitely not living up to the Renaissance name. The hotel staff was very cordial.

Just returned home after spending 6 days in New Orleans for the first time.
The purpose of the visit was to attend a convention. The convention center was only about a 1/2 mile away and easy to navigate to. The Hotel was a great location to the French Quarter, Convention, Riverwalk shopping and many fine restaurants. The staff of the hotel from the bell staff to the maids were always friendly and talkative. Their need to please the customer was very evident. (Very refreshing) Took a city tour on the first day and it was helpful to orient where things were for the future planning of dining and site seeing.

The renaissance has a 5 floor work out room and pool which we kept getting rained out on. Afternoon rain showers very common. Highly recommend this hotel and this location for a visit!!!

PS. if you golf don't miss the Audobon Executive golf course ...fabulous....for 30.00 $$

Great location, Great Staff but very poor value for money. Twice the price of any other hotel we stayed during our trip and the one with the poorest offering.

No breakfast included and only available delivered to the room at a substantial price if requested, €28 a day parking, no refrigerator in the room, no free wi-fi.

I won this hotel on a Priceline bid, as I needed a crashpad after a family wedding. Hotel is centrally located in the warehouse district, close to Convention Center, Riverwalk, Harrah's, Canal, and only a few blocks to the French Quarter.
Positives: Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, professional and extremly helpful. Our 4th floor room overlooked an interior courtyard which, due to extensive skylights, felt like we were looking outdoors. The room was HUGE with 2 queen beds, luxury linens, workspace, walk in closet and large bathroom.
Negatives: Parking was very expensive ($28+tax) and there really wasn't a safe alternative. Wired and expensive internet connection in the room - it's time to upgrade to free wifi!

All in all, a very positive experience and I would definitely stay here again.

I was really disappointed with this hotel, The rooms area just not up to current standards you can get in other hotels for the same or even cheaper price. Firstly a charge for wifi in this day & age is ridiculous. Considering the heat experienced in New Orleans I found it astounding that there was no fridge in our room - there was a space for it however. There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor all the time even though the hotel is non smoking. However it must be said that the staff were excellent form the reception to the valet parking- this along with the lobby decor are the only redeeming features of this hotel.

Nice hotel about 4 blocks from the convention center. About 15 minutes walk from the French Market and Cafe Du Monde. Nice decor in the lobby and the room. No concierge but the people at the front desk were always helpful. Wired internet in the rooms. Wireless would have been more convenient. Overall, a very nice hotel. I stayed in a room on the 4th floor facing the street but was not in the Club Section with all the amenities.

We got a great deal from Marriott.com for Memorial weekend. Price was great, including breakfasts for 2 adults and kids, plus a 50-dollar amazon gift card.
The hotel is located in the warehouse district which we never stayed before. I found myself liked this area because it is quieter and clean. It is always a 5-15 minute walk to everywhere but I enjoy walking. The hotel is about 15 minute away from the intersection of Canal and Burbon Street (including waiting for the traffic lights.) by walk. If you walk straight down from the hotel on Tchoupitoulas St toward French Quarter, Harrah’s casino is 3 blocks down on the right. The insect museum, which young kids love, is 4 blocks down. Emeril’s restaurant is a block away. Across the street, is a favorite local hang out place, called Lucy’s Retired Surfers restaurant. In my opinion, the hotel is conveniently located.
Parking at the hotel is not cheap. It is 28 dollars per night, plus tax (which is more than 10%). Valet and self-parking are the same price. I looked around. There wasn’t other close by cheaper and safer solution.
The hotel is tastefully and pleasantly decorated. Staffs are friendly. Rooms are small but very comfortable and clean. There is a very small swimming pool on the roof. It is not very practical to think about actually swimming there, but a nice place to hang out. Cool lounge chairs and sofas, too.
Our not –so-perfect experience was caused by the location of our room. We were put at the 2nd floor, facing the interior court yard, overlooking the hotels conference room/party room. The first night was fine since there was no party. The 2nd night, there was a graduation party. The party went on till 2am. I finished watching Saturday Night Life, the kids was still partying very hard. I can feel the quake of music. Eventually, I fall sleep under “Bohimian Rhapsody.” I love the song, but wished there could be a better lullaby. At 5am, I jumped out my bed, waken by the loud hysterical fire alarm. 15 minutes later, when we finally got ready to evacuate, the alarm stopped.
Personally, I felt the staff could have avoided our sleepless in New Orleans by putting us away from the party room when we checked in. Shouldn’t those who were having a party have our room instead? I feel a 4 star hotel should have this plan-ahead type of ability.
