“Amazingly good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

I always stay at this propery when in New Orleans, period. While I am not a frequesnt guest, I was recognized and welcomed back. This was done by people who were not in the normal chain of "welcome staff". This was impressive!
More impressive, the head of the housekeeping staff got into the elevator with me; he asked if my room was perfect. I said that I had not complaints but that one light was not working. He immediately communicated with others that he was changing priorities and going to my room to mkae sure that my light was working. Again, quite impressive and more than worthy of a total recommendation.
I made a reservtaion that was for a "smoking room"; it is my bad habit and I don't need to hear any comments on it. The fact is that they had no "smoking rooms" when I got there for whatever reason. Again, I was totally impressed by the fact that they provided me with a larger room than reserved at no cost so that my "vice" could be indulged as per the contract.
I am sure that there are placed that offer similar levels of honorable behavior, service and quality. I have found them but at two to three times the price per night.
I should add that there were a nice number of children around. While I was not there on a "family matter", it is a good place to consider for such times.

Stayed for three nights during second weekend of Jazz Fest and we were very satisfied with the hotel, where we were able to get a very good price far in advance, with a chance to cancel three days before the event. Many other hotels require non-refundable reservations for Jazz Fest weekends. The rooms were large and the bed was very comfortable. It is a five-block walk to the French Quarter but that was a positive aspect of the location after eating two late and heavy meals, and there is absolutely no noise at night outside the hotel. It was easy to get a cab to the Fairgrounds, and at $5 per person for three or more people, I recommend cabs rather than the shuttles, which are $18 each way, only leave from the Sheraton on Canal Street, and don't save any time when there is a large crowd leaving at the end of the day. There is no bar in the hotel and I don't recommend going next door to Le Pavilion where the decor is worth looking at, but the drinks are small and expensive. Instead, take a short walk to Happy's bar one block the other way (or any other bar), and bring the drinks back to the hotel. The breakfast is OK but not as good as a I have had at another Hilton property, the Hampton Inn. Highly recommend walking across the street to Regnelli's Pizza, where we all had great sandwiches (can't vouch for the pizza but it looked good). We would go back to the Homewood Suites in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony on the Baronne Street side of the hotel, but be aware that it is just...

Hi tschatz,

Thank you for staying with us during Jazz Fest. We are delighted that you enjoyed our hotel and central location. The second weekend of Jazz Fest usually has a higher attendance than the first weekend, so we were thrilled to hear that you were able to get a very good price far in advance. Once again, thank you for staying with us!

Excellent facility which includes spacious rooms, indoor pool, fitness center, super comp. breakfast, comp. WiFi, two flat screens, full size fridge, dishwater in walking distance of convention center. However, check in was poorly handled by totally inept front desk clerks Joseph Williams and "Carla." After a long red eye flight from Knoxville via Atlanta which was disrupted, these front desk clerks were ineffective in allowing timely access to much need room. They would not schedule airport shuttle or do much of any thing requested. I suppose quality front desk staff are not a priority for managers. My meeting was at the Hilton Riverside which seemed to treat its customers with respect and service which is usually expected from major hoteliers like Hilton. If you can avoid contact with the front desk this is a great value.

Room Tip: maybe request a high floor level to minimize street noise.

We are sorry we were not able to provide you with a better quality of service. This is not typical of our hotel and staff, and we will address your concerns with our Front Desk Staff. We understand how important a cheerful front desk staff is, especially after a late night flight. Your satisfaction is very important to us and we try hard to make sure all of our guests have a great stay. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if there is anything else I can do to help. Hilton’s Homewood Suites is a great place to stay when visiting New Orleans for a few days or a few weeks (as I did). The hotel is located at 901 Poydras Avenue which puts it within a few blocks of many of NOLA’s restaurants & hotspots. Nearby are Harrah’s Casino, the Aquarium, Riverwalk, Superdome, Canal Street and the ever favorite, Bourbon Street. For those not into walking, there’s a convenient taxi stand next door on Barrone Street. For sightseeing, I’d recommend getting a bicycled Pedicab, great way to good pictures on the fly!
Homewood offers (usually) reasonable rates and free hot or cold breakfast 7 days a week. They vary they breakfast menu, so you never get too bored with the offerings. Complimentary dinner fare, though not gourmet, is satisfying and available Mondays thru Thursdays. For those staying for an extended period, there is a very well appointed Rouse’s Supermarket & Deli 2 blocks away on Baronne Street. They have really decent pizza available by the slice and an assortment of microwaveable meals made fresh daily.
Next door to the hotel is the very friendly and convenient Big Pie Restaurant & Bar which puts together some tasty fare (and they deliver!). Next to that is Dee’s Coffee (great muffins!).
The hotel has large one & two bedroom suites with a kitchenette, microwave, two-burner electric stove and full size fridge. I had rooms on the 7th and 11th floors and never had a problem with getting enough water pressure or hot water. Bedding is not plush, but certainly comfortable (I slept well every night & never woke with a backache). Air conditioners aren’t all that quiet, but not so noisy that you can’t sleep. The hotel also offers an indoor pool, business center, free internet, healthy workout room, and a 3-washer/4-dryer guest laundry. Wash & dry are $1.75 each. Not cheap, but certainly affordable. (Tip: the wash cycle is only 27 minutes, so don’t load up on detergent or you won’t get a good rinse). Dry cleaning service is available at the front desk, but expensive. Daily housekeeping is the norm with twice a week service for long term guests.
The front desk staff is always accommodating and if you’re lucky, you’ll meet Lucy. She’s been there awhile and knows the ins & outs of things. Parking is $18/day at the adjacent outdoor lot.
I’ve stayed at several NOLA hotels over the years and the most notable thing about the Homewood Inn & Suites is how quiet it is, except for the occasional parade or siren, of course…it IS New Orleans after all!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room. The view's not much but it is nice to step outside once in awhile. Inter...

Booked this hotel last minute after Kentucky beat Louisville in the Final Four. Got the last room in the hotel on points and headed to NOLA for two quick days to see our Wildcats win title #8. The front desk and food attendants were very nice and also quickly remedied a broken door to our room. The room was spacious and had a kitchen but no utinsels or plates, which was strange. The carpet seemed wet in the area outside the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. In all, the room was fair but needed a remodel.

We were a party of six ladies who stayed at the Homewood Suites on Podras from the 17th through the 20th of April. We had a two bedroom, two bath suite and we had a fabulous experience. The entire hotel was spotless, it is in a great location just outside of the French Quarter : within walking distance to the waterfront, the French Quarter, the French Market place and a short trolley ride to the Garden District. The free breakfasts and light dinners (with beer and wine) were great, not gourmet but very good and the price was right! The housekeeping staff were wonderful and accomodating with extra towels, a roll away bed, and very willing to wait till we all got ready for the day to clean our room. The front desk staff provided directions, recomendations and readily gave us an extended checkout and stored our bags until we left for the airport. I plan on becoming a Homewood Suite frequent guest!

We had a two bedroom, two bath suite for our party of 5 (two children). For the space and amenities (we used the fridge and microwave constantly), it was well worth the price. Considering that we received four dinners and five breakfasts, all you can eat, with free beer and wine at dinner, this was a great value. Even with small kids, it was not too far to get to the French Quarter in 20 minutes or to hop onto one of the streetcars. Keith, the sales manager, and his staff took extra care to make sure we were happy. And around us were many other families (besides the business people this hotel is intended for) that had figured out the same thing. We would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat and will stay there again.

Room Tip: Get the two bedroom suite for the extra space.
