“GREAT EXECUTIVE LOUNGE GREAT LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2011

We stayed here for New Years Eve weekend and there were crouds everywhere. The executive lounge is open everyday for breakfast and evening snack and drinks. Our first night here we ate in the lounge and were too full to eat dinner, it was great. Ask for a quite room and you will have no trouble with the all night partiers on Bourbon street. Walk to stadium and the french market is 15 minutes. The parking is the only bad thing to say about this hotel. The line to park stetched two blocks down Canal street and almost ruined our stay, that really should be fixed by management that is why I rated service so low. The Ritz down the street and the Wyndham did not have lines like that there is no customer service with the parking. After waiting over an hour to park the car and another 30 minutes to get the car we decided to park in the garage behind the hotel and get better service.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay with the exception of parking. Parking during special events like New Years Eve does pose a challenge for the hotel. The hotels you mentioned are a lot smaller in size than the Astor so our crowd is a lot more difficult to handle than a smaller facility during peak check-in and check-out. Never the less, we do apologize for the inconvenience you experienced regarding parking. We hope you will give us another opportunity to deliver an all around great experience. Our Executive Lounge awaits your return! Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

This hotel is in a perfect location for touring the French Quarter. We stepped out the side door in to all the madness of Bourbon Street! The lobby area was quiet and homey and the bartender gave great service along with tips on what to see, where to eat. The room was average at best. My husband was "okay" with the quality of our digs, I was not. There was an odor I cannot explain and the carpet needed to be replaced. We stayed in a room with an adjoining door and could hear our neighbors as if they were sitting in our room. (It was BAD) Our friends had a room on a higher floor and it was super nice. The same set up as ours, just appeared to be remodeled with newer carpet. They felt very comfortable and had no noise problems. So here is your tip and mine for the next visit: request a room on the 11th or 12th floor with NO adjoining room.

Thank you for your review. We were disappointed to hear your comments on the carpet in your room. Rest assured we will look into this. All of the carpet is predominately new from our recent renovation. Some guests do spill a lot and it sounds like we missed the boat on the shampooing of your room. We truly regret this and apologize. We hope you will give us another opportunity to experience what our hotel is truly all about....clean, comfortable and a staff with the desire to please. Thanks again.

My fiance and I stayed here in December while visiting New Orleans for the weekend. The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport. The cab driver had no problem finding the hotel. The hotel is beautiful inside and very clean. The staff was wonderful in checking us in and getting us in our room early.

Our room was very generous with space! We were at the end of the hall and I thought we would be away from the noise. We weren't. We were right on Canal St. and heard all the noise from below even though we were 6 floors up. If you plan on going to bed early you might consider changing rooms. We were out till late, but once 8 am hit we heard the traffic from below and the trolleys.

The room was clean but I noticed mold on the a/c vent. The bed was comfortable, but for some reason, it wouldn't fully fit on the frame of the bed.

You can easily walk to anywhere in the French Quarter from the hotel. A trolley stop is right across the street from the hotel (Garden district line and canal line).

Despite it being noisy, I would stay again...just in a different room.

We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon during a period that was busy with conventioneers. We'd arranged a 4-night package through our travel agent, but neither of us knew half the rooms faced Bourbon Street, nor the downside of that location. By the time we figured out we would be inundated with music every night from 6:00 to 10:00, and until 1:30 am on the weekends, we didn't want to take the trouble to change rooms, even had that been an option. The room itself was OK, but the linens and carpet looked worn. A real bonus, in spite of the so-so accommodations, was the service we received everywhere in the hotel (except for one inept bartender). The receptionists were friendly and helpful, the housekeeping staff and engineering responded quickly to service requests (the hairdryer didn't work), Bull. a bellhop was a real joy, and the young female concierge was a gem, giving straightforward information about local sites and restaurants. I don't know that we'd recommend the hotel to others, but we didn't have anything to compare it to in the quarter. It may have been a real bargain for the price and location.

Thank you for taking the time to pen your thoughts on the Astor Crowne Plaza. We were sorry to hear the noise on Bourbon Street keep you from enjoying a peaceful night sleep. A request for a room relocation change would have made the difference regarding your sleep, but we do understand this to be an inconvenience. It does sound like the staff met your expectations and thank you for your comments in this regard. Perhaps on your next visit to New Orleans and if you would consider a return visit...then please request one of our "Quiet Floors" high above the excitement of Bourbon Street. We wish to thank you for selecting the Astor Crowne Plaza and we hope you will give us another opportunity when New Orleans is next on your agenda.

I stayed here and it was my first time in New Orleans. I couldn't have picked a better place! It was in the middle of everything. You can step out and be on Bourbon street or walk down to the casino or the french market. The room was clean and they cleaned it in a very good way. The hotel staff were very friendly and the room service was excellent! Stay here, you will be glad you did!

Spent 4 fantastic nights at the Astor from Nov 21 to Nov 25th. Me and a few freinds who work as travel agents went down from Toronto and had a GREAT TIME in N.O. The hotel is perfectly located as many reviwers have already stated the Lobby and the rooms were very nice and clean and have no complaints about the hotel itself at all!! I did however find alot of the staff to be very rude and unacommodating. I know they have to deal with drunks all the time considering the location right on Bourbon but a smile and hello your goes a long way. The doormen were also quite unproffesional all they seemd to be doing , at least at night, was chatting up the girls on the street. and didnt seem to like to answer any questions. All in all i would recommend this hotel simply for the comfort and location but dont expect fantastic service. but really if your going to New Orleans to stay in your room dont go to New Orleans. I will be back to N.O and would choose the Astor again.* On a side note make sure you check out the Honey Island Swamp tour ... FANTASTIC !!

Well, we were delighted to hear that the physical aspects of our hotel met your expectations. Disappointed however on your comments regarding our team...I have always perceived our team to be quite friendly...obviously not so in your case. Please accept my apology in this regard and rest assured your comments will be shared with our executive team. I was glad to hear that you would be coming back. Perhaps on your next visit we will be able to change your opinion of our associates...I know they can do it and our intent is to win you over on your next visit. See you then and thank you for your review.

Disregard the negative reviews of this hotel. This is a beautiful historic hotel, with a great location at the edge of the French Quarter on Canal Street. Many city sites are within walking distance or a trolly ride away. The rooms are very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel staff are extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.
