“Not worth the money!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

The only good thing about this hotel was it's staff! The room was tiny, our view was of a parking garage, the bed was uncomfortable, no refrigirator, the one cup coffee pot was sitting in the bathroom floor when we arrived, room service charged two gratuitys on one check, the final bill had a parking charge when we flew in and had no rental car or visiting guests that used the parking (when this was brought to their attention they acted as if we were scamming them) and the bathroom toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The young men that hailed taxis for us all weekend were some of the hardest working young men we have ever seen and very friendly and polite.
This hotel has a great location but there are several others in the same area that look better kept.
One other thing I might add, I love the French Market but don't want it in my hotel...all weekend there were tables out in the lobby with French Market quality items being sold in the lobby...really?
I am not one to stay in a hotel while in NOLA, normally you will find me in a rental on Frenchmen St. or down around the Dauphine St. area but since this was a short two night trip I decided to choose a hotel with a good location away from where I normally stay....wrong choice! I will never come to NOLA again and stay in a hotel....local rentals, condos, apartments, etc. are the only way to go.

First, I must say that on April 06, 2013, between 1630 and 1800 hours, the valet service person stole my CD with music, searched my CDs in my vehicle, and stole about $7.00 in quarters that were in our vehicle.

The wireless internet on the 14th floor was the worst ever in all hotels I have stayed all over the world. The support service for fixing the internet had no clue how to fix the internet.

I would not advise any person to stay there, even though it is very close to Burbon Street.

I must say, the Bell Boys were very professional, but the rest of the staff did not care about you as a person.

How could the valet driver steal personal materials from a vehicle?? The manager did not respond to my concerns!!

Pobre!!

Room Tip: Don't stay there at all>>

It does sound like your stay was horrible and we are truly sorry for this experience. Rest assured I will be looking into the alledged theft and will get to the bottom of it with the manager of the parking services. While I know these next words will be of no comfort, but the hotel does have issues regarding connectivity in certain parts of the hotel. We have just recently contracted to have the entire hotel rewired to ensure a quality internet experience for our future guests. Thank you for your patronage and please know your review will be shared with our management staff.

This hotel has Bennan's seafood restaurant access, as if it is a hotel restaurant and is literally on the edge of the French Quarter, right on the corner of Bourbon and Canal streets -- can't get much more convenient than that for exploring the French Quarter and surrounding areas. The street cars stop right in front of the hotel (about every 20 minutes), making the Aquarium and the Garden District extremely accessable. Staff was extremely nice, though the consierge was always busy when we tried to see him, so we were never able to use his services.
As with most hotels these days, cleaning is not as thorough as it should be -- the maids are not cleaning or vacuuming in the corners or around the edges of the carpeted areas. It is best not to look too closely when in hotel.
Our room was in the quiet, old section with a view of crumbling buildings and a parking garage, but we weren't there for the view. We had the best time in the fabulous restaurants and music venues of New Orleans.
Bed was very nice and we requested softer pillow which were delivered promptly.

The Astor Crowne Plaza is at the corner of Bourbon and Canal and is directly across the street from a streetcar stop. All French Quarter destinations are a short walk away- 10 to 15 minutes or less. The Riverfront and ferry are 5 minutes away. The madness that is Bourbon St. is a few feet from the side door of the hotel. This is an older hotel but it is quite charming. I believe that it is comprised of a few different connecting buildings. Our 12th? floor, (if I remember correctly) 2 queen bed room was surprisingly spacious; photos don't show this, spotless, and overlooked the corner and rooftops of Bourbon and Canal. The bathroom was clean as well and Templespa bath products were supplied. Earplugs were also supplied but not needed. We ate all of our meals away from the hotel. The hotel restaurant was a little too pricey for breakfast. There is a McDonald's in the same block for picking up morning coffee. There is a small, one cup drip style coffemaker that uses pods in the room. We read somewhere that the hotel had Keurig coffemakers so we packed a supply but alas were unable to use it-no big deal. There is a room off the lobby with 4 computers and free internet access. There is a well equipped and immaculate gym as well as a small, 3rd floor rooftop pool All staff encountered were very friendly. We were greeted each time we walked in the door. If I ever return to New Orleans I would definitely stay here again.

Located on the corner of Canal and Bourbon, with a street car right outside your door, you can go anywhere and do anything from this hotel. Good service, great restaurants near by. Great choice for singles, lovers, or anyone who likes to stay at a quality property with great service.

The only good thing about this hotel was that it seemed to be quiet. Although I was on a "quiet" floor specially designated. The hotel is old, the rooms are outdated and my shower was dirty when I arrived. There was no mini bar and no bottled water! When I called down, they sent up a $3 mini bottle of Dasani. There is no small store or place to purchase sundries, although there is a CVS across the street. That being said, you want a hotel with everything inside so you don't have to leave during dangerous hours of the night. The hotel bar is tiny and the restaurant attached is pretty lackluster. I'll stay at the Marriott or Sheraton next time.

Room Tip: Stay on the quiet floor

I was in New Orleans for business and stayed 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza. Beds were great, service was very friendly, room service was quick. For those who have trouble sleeping with a little noise, ear plugs provided free of charge. Dana at the front desk was super, funny, quick and helpful.

As a tourist location, it absolutely couldn't be beat. It is located at the corner of Canal and Bourbon, so you step out the door turn right, and you are in Mardi Gras. Great restaurants literally minutes away.

As a business traveler - you may go to a more modern hotel - wireless access was very slow....but who's doing business? Take your clients out for dinner/lunch/a good time instead.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from Bourbon if you're a light sleeper. South facing rooms can look d...
