“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This is a better than average hotel with an excellent staff. Rooms are modern, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is right at the foot of the French Quarter. It has a very nice restaurant, Dickie Brennan's on the first floor. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

Celebrated a Bachlorette Party here in March, 2013. Location was Perfect...right in the center of it all. Beds are super comfy. Check in was a breeze! We arrived super early and they accomadated us by allowing us to check in our luggage. The Bellmen are super perfessional and are full of friendly personality. The workers here truley made our stay wonderful. Everyone seemed to enjoy being employed at this hotel because it shined through each worker's "eager to please" personality.

Got a deal on the internet which made this a good value for the location. Room was basic hotel room. Lobby is lovely. But really, another $10 for WiFi. And they say they are green, but changed the towels and took the barely used soap. But the location is very convenient.

Of course this hotel's most remarkable feature is the location. Staff was very hospitable. Parking is by valet only and an atrocious rate but that is standard in a destination such as this. We felt very safe here as this was a family vacation. The rooftop pool is wonderful. Ten dollars a day for wifi seems exploitive but there is a business centre off the lobby with several desktops that are free to use. It would be helpful if a fridge/microwave could be part of the amenities for family vacations.

Fabulous hotel, great location and value. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. The concierge is very knowledgeable about the area and has never steered us wrong. This is our hotel of choice when visiting the city

Our son was married in New Orleans on March 15, 2013 and we reserved a block of rooms for guests at the Astor Crowne Plaza. It turned out to be a very good choice. The location was great at the corner of Canal and Bourbon- streetcars right out front, cabs almost always available.
The rooms in the main tower of the hotel seem to be the most spacious ones - fortunately all of our guests were placed there. Housekeeping was very resposive to all requests and the bellman were particularly helpful. The lobby bar "The Bourbon House" became a favorite gathering spot although it does close early (10 pm). The baconies on the second floor facing both Bourbon St and Canal St are great places for photo ops.
We also held a continental brunch for guests at the hotel the morning after the wedding. The room was large and lovely, the food very plentiful, and the service was excellent.
Overall we had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for four nights in February, the week after Mardi Gras. This wouldn't have been my first choice for a hotel, but my husband was traveling for business and I tagged along. We got a special discounted rate for the conference.

I was pretty surprised at what this hotel can charge normally, but it's all about the location, which is ideal - close enough to Bourbon to hop on over (but none of the noise!), just a short walk away from Harrah's and the CBD.

Other than that? It's fine, and there's nothing really "bad" about the place. Pretty unremarkable as far as room furnishings, service. Basic room, comfortable bed, horrible shower pressure. We had a picturesque view of a neighboring parking garage...but honestly, who really cares? The Astor put us within walking distance of just about everything we wanted to see (or a quick cab/bus ride away) and a place to shower/sleep. No bugs, no egregious disrepair, nothing to raise an eyebrow at. Crazy that they charge $10/day for wifi, but luckily my husband was able to expense it!
