“great for family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

we had 4 of us...2 adult children, and this room was excellent as it had 2 queen beds and a sofa lounge. The sofa was so lumpy it could not be slept on, so they brought us a good mattress within 20 min...great service, but better if they replace the bad sofa mattresses. Good size room, with microwave etc. Solid free breakfast was appreciated. Its a long walk from the bourbon st area( about 30 min) but we didnt mind as it was very interesting.
We used the spa most nights too.
Our only negative was the lack of an inroom safe. We locked our passports and $1500 cash in the lock boxes at reception, but they would not give us the key...which i thought odd. When we went to claim them as we were leaving they asked us for the key... we explained the lady did not give it to us, so they opened the box and it was empty!!...after 15 min of terror, the manager came out and said she knew where our things were. But no apology except for saying the lady at checkin was new.
anyway, a very good hotel!

The following is a very detailed review of the hotel. My husband and I stayed here one night and were assigned Room #356. There are outside renovations that include paving the driveway from St. Joseph Street into the hotel; sand is currently in the place of pavement.

ROOM CONFIGURATION - The closet has an iron, luggage rack holder, hair dryer and bedding for sofa sleeper (no room safe). Room is well configured and includes a mini refrigerator, mini microwave, coffee maker, bar sink, work desk; extra long sofa sleeper and ottoman. Tub/Shower and toilet have a separate area with door (no exhaust fan). Sink is in another area and has carpet on floor (common in most hotels).

INTERNET – There are two levels of internet: 1) Free and 2) Enhanced for $6.99 per day. The free internet is very easy to access – simply choose SpringHill Guest.

LOCATION – Hotel is located very close to the Riverwalk Outlet and very close to the Ernest Morial Convention Center. We chose this hotel because we wanted to be near the Cruise Terminal, and hotel is of good quality and a reasonable price. There are ample options for dining and shopping.

However, after reading previous reviews about the noise on Peters Street, we called in advance and requested a room away from the area. There is also a bar on St. Joseph Street called the Howling Wolf that has an 8 Piece Brass Group called the “Hot 8” – we are sure the guests on the first floor near this ‘dive bar’ were hating life after 10 p.m.

BREAKFAST – Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., but most of items are available by 6 a.m. Items include: scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon (the day I was there), waffles, oatmeal and 7 toppings, hard boiled eggs, English Muffins, bread slices, croissants, bagels, blueberry muffins, two types of yogurt, whole fruit (apples and bananas), tea, coffee and juice (apple, cranberry, orange).

AMENITIES – There is a very nice indoor sauna. The workout room has two treadmills, one elliptical machine and one seated bicycle machine. There is also a nice selection of free weights. The pool is welcoming and has many lounge chairs available for guests. Pool is located in the atrium type area of the hotel – with rooms surrounding all four sides (four stories). The shampoo and conditioner is Paul Mitchell Brand with generic no-name soap.

The Business Center is located in the main lobby doubling as dining area. This portion of the hotel is nicely designed with a TV and fireplace. A Taxi Stand is conveniently located in front of the hotel. There is also a small market located close by. There are no vending machines at the hotel, but you can access their market for items.

TAXI TO CRUISE TERMINAL – Cost is $7 per person even though boarding area is nearby. Because the Convention Center takes up several blocks, it would be an arduous task to walk from the hotel to the terminal – but it could be done if you have over an hour or so of walking time available.

Staff at this hotel is very good; friendly, efficient and professional. Hotel is well maintained. I would definitely stay here again = recommended!

Room Tip: Request room away from Peters Street

We stayed in 201 recently and @ check in Nora was such a sweet lady and knew what she was doing. Room was very clean and comfortable. Not close to the french quarter but I walk everywhere when I go to visit places. I interacted with a few new front desk people that had no clue what they were doing in the evening and were VERY slow even to charge something to my room. Only reason I scored a 5 was due to Nora and to keep her scores up :)

Breakfast had a LONG line the 2 mornings and did not matter what time, everything was stocked though. The breakfast ladies were very sweet and did not looked overwhelmed each morning, so this must be a usual thing with due to the property having about 200 rooms.

By the way Nora (Abby) Finish that book of yours!!! Don't push it off to the side we both will be looking for it!

Room Tip: Meet Nora when you are here :)

We brought our two kids (ages 9 and 15) to New Orleans for the Christmas Holiday. We searched for a hotel that would specifically include a heated swimming pool, as both kids wanted to swim. The online ad for this hotel CLAIMS there is a heated pool, which staff confirmed when we made our call ahead and reservation. But when we got there we found the pool unheated and unkempt, with leaves floating. We were quoted one daily rate, but then charged a higher rate! We were also not told in advance that onsite parking cost $25 A DAY! One of the electrical outlets in our studio suite shorted, burning our cell phone plug and leaving a burn mark on the wall. We reported this to the front desk, with a photo of it, and were assured it would be fixed right away. It wasn't. We were also not told the correct time for breakfast, so when we came down to dine our first morning, we were told nothing was left as staff put it away. The printed room guide did not even include breakfast times. On a positive note, the location was perfect and the staff very friendly and courteous. The breakfast servers were especially cheerful and one even sang as she served! We would return IF the pool were actually heated (ought to enclose the center courtyard), and if we were given some kind of rebate to compensate for having been willfully misled about the pool, rates, and parking.

Room Tip: Our room had no windows and was nice and quiet.

Thank You so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to let us know how we are doing. We strive to make each of our guests stay memorable but unfortunately it seems we did not do so with you. Our pool is heated but at the time of your stay we were starting a renovation on our driveway entrance and because of that the heater to the pool was off. I also apologize about the parking but it is $25 a night plus tax as it is stated on our website and we take pride in being the cheapest in the area. I would like to talk to you a little more about your stay you can contact me at the hotel 504-522-3100 ext 605. I thank you again for choosing SpringHill Suites and i cant wait to speak with you.

We paid a good rate for the three nights we stayed. The breakfast line is long and crowded. You can expect the usual: scrambled eggs, sausage and make your own waffles. Some mornings there was fruit and Nutella for your toast. Mostly they would run out and say sorry. The room has an odd shape to it and the bathroom has a funky smell. Overall it was comfortable for the limited time we were in there. There are a couple places nearby to eat and enjoy. Cochon is a must. The walk to French quarters takes 15 minutes and is nice.

Nice hotel...spacious rooms. Location is a little different than being in the Quarter. Not a far walk. About a $10 cab ride to Bourbon St.

Located right next door are a couple of restaurants and bars...which were all fine.

Staff was courteous. Kudos for the parking rate of $28 valet. This visit was NYE and they didn't gouge on the parking!

Great location if going cruising..right across the street.

NOLA is a loud fun place. My ground floor room heard all of the fun! It was loud...I easily dealt with it, I expect a place like NOLA to be loud. It was NYE! The noise level kept me from giving it a 4 star....ALSO, it seemed every water pipe in the building was located in my ceiling and walls.

Will stay again and may rate higher if I get off the ground floor...I highly recommend requesting a non 1st floor room.

Beds GREAT! Spacious! Nice gym and pool area...easy dining on the same block.

We look forward to your return when you will find our newly designed entrance and new 47 inch TV's in your guest room. We're happy that you enjoyed your stay and that noise from the clubs next door did not create a negative impact on you stay. I want you to know that we are working to try and get the allowable noise level for our area of town lowered so we do not have such disturbances. We will work hard to earn a five STAR rating from you on your next visit. Until then we wish you safe travels and prosperous New Year.

Clean, comfortable living arrangements.
Courteous Staff.
In the heart of the action. You don't have to spend a dime on the taxi. If you're wearing heels just pack some walking shoes and make the switch. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is that I don't like that our car had to be parked by an outside agency. They ran out of parking spots. Will I return?? HECK YES!
