“Thanks but no thanks”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Unfortunately I have never stayed in an exceptional hotel in New Orleans. Whether it be higher end properties like JW, W, Westin, Hilton, etc or the lower end chains like this one or a Hampton Inn or Hyatt place, there doesn't seem to be any pressure to be good. Being a big convention city where hotels are routinely fully booked, I don't think there is that emphasis on quality.

As for this hotel, it smelled on a number of floors and the common areas were dirty on occasion. Regarding the room, I changed once due to a water leak from the upstairs room. Always nice to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and discovering an inch and a half of water on the floor. Better yet, when I informed the front desk about the leak the next morning (water bubble in wallpaper definitely shows it coming from floor above) I get chastised for not alerting them earlier --- how about I am here to sleep at 3am and not be your janitor.

Dear Guest, It is always our focus to create positive lasting service experience for all of our guest. Obviously, we did not meet that expectation in your case and I offer my sincerest of apology. I've been in New Orleans now for over 10 years and I can assure you that we are as focused on service as any other market across the world and just like all other markets unexpected things happen. This is when we depend on our staff to minimize the inconvenience as much as possible. I have addressed both the maintenance and the service issues with the appropriate leader and we are now better prepared to drive improved results in the future. Thank you for your comments and we would to love to have you back with us so that you can confirm that our focus really is about delivering great service on every level.

We were very pleased with our stay. The employees at the front desk are friendly and very helpful. They were all knowledgeable about the area. It is within walking distance to the French Quarter, but not exactly close. The trolley isn't far away and cab rides aren't too expensive. It was about $12 to the French Quarter from the hotel for a cab. There are several restaurants within walking distance also.

The room was large and clean. The beds are on the softer side, which we usually don't like, but we slept fine. The breakfast was the typical continental breakfast with waffles, eggs, sausage or ham, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, etc. The breakfast eating area was larger than most which worked out well since it gets busy later in the morning.

There is a $25 fee for parking. We were lucky to get a spot each time we came back. This would be the one complaint I have about the hotel. For such a large place the parking lot is tiny...maybe 50 spaces, if that.

Overall it is a great hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the courtyard side are very quiet. Our friends had room on street side and it was very noi...

Thank you for your review of our hotel. We are aware that on some wekends that parking can be somewhat challenging. We actually have 75 parking spots but there are 208 rooms. However, there are two parking lots directly across the street from the hotel and several more lots within a couple of blocks. When we anticipate our lot being sold out we do contact the loacl lots to try and reserve spots for our guest. Again, thanks for your review and we hope to see you back with us soon.

Our family of 8 stayed at the SpringHill Suites prior to our cruise from New Orleans. It was an excellent location....very close to the cruise terminals! We had two rooms that were close to each other that the front desk had selected for us. The hotel is very nice and was clean and new. The breakfast area was very crowded every morning but the staff kept the food well stocked. It was difficult for us to find seating for 8 because it was so busy.
I would definitely stay at his hotel if I were going on a cruise from New Orleans. Very nice hotel.

The room is decent. King size Suite. It is Close to convention center. Cabs seem to be plentiful. There are a Couple of decent bars around the corner and a 24 hour convenient store. Bed was ok. Breakfast was ok. Parking $25 a day extra. As for a store in the place, it's slim
Pickings. You'll need to go around the corner for anything. Prices for laundry or dry cleaning are ridiculous.

I came here for a convention and the hotel was very close to the convention center. The room was big, cosy had large beds . I did not like bathroom shower. The personel was very good and nice. Breakfast was a bit too fat for an Italian like me, but you could choose what you wanted. The pool, the exercise room and the jacuzzi were not very big but comfortable. They had free wifi but I could not connect my laptop pc.

The hotel was nice and the staff was very friendly. Our room had a very comfortable king size bed, the hot/cold water controls need adjusting and the breakfast was good. This hotel is in a very good location for cruise ships and parking garage for week long parking. In walking distance to River Walk.

The Hotel was a bit of a disappointment for a Marriott property. Room decor was lost in a time warp back to the 80s, with relatively poor lighting and cold/hot water controls. The beds were comfortable, the free breakfast was passable and the staff phenomenal. Common areas were decent, but closer Marriott properties are likely a much better choice.

Room Tip: A balcony room is actually a 2nd floor room that opens on to a large elevated courtyard.
