“Very small for two people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week while we explored New Orleans. The location was perfect; literally we could not have been happier about the location, the price, and the service. The people who work there are very sweet and accommodating.

We didn't know about the fee for the wifi and safe but we figured we need it, so didn't balk at the price, but it should be free (as it is with most other hotels).

The room that we first got was so small we couldn't do more than one night in it. It was an "inside" room and had a fake window and we had a good laugh about it and just asked to be moved as soon as they could. They moved us the next morning. It was no problem. The furniture is a bit outdated and the room is not "fancy" by any means, but it was a good rate, and a comfortable choice for us.

Because we were there so long, we had a lot of luggage, and this was definitely a lot in a small room.

Overall, a great spot for visiting New Orleans on a budget. It is no frills, and aside from a great location and price, it's not a big draw, but it worked for us!

Room Tip: do not let them put you in an inside room!

Not often do I book a hotel that ends up being perfect for whatever particular trip I was taking. This is one of those rare occasions. My girlfriend and I just back from a seven-day Caribbean cruise and wanted to spend the day in New Orleans. We had both been to New Orleans before and stayed at quality hotels. The Royal St Charles was beyond quality. Compared to other hotels near the French Quarter, this one is much more spacious.

Not only spacious, but also walking distance to everything a tourist needs to get to. A trolley stop is right outside the front door to get you anywhere further than walking distance. The hotel also has a coffee shop in the lobby and a Strabucks on the same block. There's also a nice semi-local bar around the corner that's nice for the first and/or last drink of the day.

Something else the hotel offers is an online check-in, which was a very easy process. We needed to check in early and the hotel was able to text us once our room was ready after we checked-in online.

The room was very clean with a decent view with two flat screen TVs. We only paid $120 total for a Sunday night on St. Patrick's Day weekend. Definitely worth it!

Room Tip: We checked in early and requested a view. We ended up on the 10th floor with a view of the east side...

This hotel is conveniently located right next to the French Quarters. The green line trolley stop is right outside the hotel, making it easy to sight see through the Garden District. It is inexpensive to ride and easy to get on and off at various restaurants. No need to rent a car if you stay here. The other trolleys can take you to other attractions such as the cemetery. You can walk around the French Quarters any time of the day or night. Our room was small, but well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Bring some earplugs if you are light sleeper as the trolley rolls by all night long. Great service checking in and out. $33 plus tip gets you a taxi from the airport to the hotel. We had an outside room with a big window.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a window.

While traveling to a wedding in New Orleans, we stayed at this hotel for 9 days, last week. (We chose it because of the wedding). The reservation was done in advanced, and the room selected was "Superior Queen", the problem was: that room had NO WINDOWS, something you cannot tell by checking the photos at the web page, and no one tells you! After two days, that was overwhelming. You just couldn't tell if it was day or night, if it was sunny or rainy! We asked to be changed but we had to stay for 6 nights in that cave. By the way, the mattresse was concave so I rolled every night to the center of the bed, it was disgusting (except for finding my husband there, of course!). On the other hand, the attention is good, and the location is very good.

Room Tip: Check if the room you select has a window.

We checked in early having just come off a cruise. We asked for a low floor and was told that they could do a 4th floor room but that no rooms were ready. That was fine, they have a nice lobby waiting area with a coffee shop and we had time to go for lunch. When our room was ready, it was on the 6th floor but we had no argument there. We went up to our room and noticed how dark it was. Well, the window was made up of thick glass blocks with no view of the outside. We were told that this was how all inside rooms were done. Inside rooms? I never heard of such a thing except on a cruise ship. We were told that there were no other rooms available but we could ask again tomorrow. At least we had no sun shining in on us when we tried to sleep late. After we calmed down, we noticed how very small the room was, that the TV was in front of the desk not the bed and there was no other place to sit to watch it. We had to pull the TV stand out and turn it in order to see the TV while on the bed. It is hard to open the door to the bathroom if someone is sitting on the toilet. The tub is recessed into the wall so that only half shows. Now, all that being said, the bed was comfortable and very clean. The location was one block from Canal St and the street car stopped out front. So, you take the good with the bad and make the best of it. Who stays in their room all the time when one is in New Orleans!

Room Tip: One with a functional window (0ne you can see out of)

The hotel is located just across Canal from the French Quarter, so its a perfect location. The valet car service while not cheap is excellent (worth the money). Service at the front desk is somewhat mechanical (see below), but OK. The room is nice, not big, but definitely adequate. Bathroom is nice too. Very clean and good amenities. The hotel is not trendy and not "boutique" (as you are led to believe). Décor is very nice and modern but not special.
Only disappointment I had: When I checked in they request a $9.95 charge for using the safe in the room and for WiFi. I thanked them and said I do not need them and requested no to pay. The front desk clerk's answer was "It's mandatory and I will not argue about this". These things should be free anyhow (as many hotels do), but for sure not mandatory extra charge!!!!

This hotel located in the heart of French Quarter,so you can walk to everywhere from here.
At the check in the staff was slow and acted like they didn't care about the guests at all.
The rooms are nice, little bit small, just queen beds (in the room we booked anyway)
Thin walls, so it's a negative, but the room is bright, and modern.
Recommended hotel!
