“Luxury Rooms & Fabulous Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

This hotel is a real charmer. Renaissance has taken this hotel and done luxury upgrades while keeping it an older New Orleans hotel on the exterior The corner room was the size of an avarge New York hotel room (275 sq. ft.), large bathroom, completely renovated in true Renaissance Hotel style. The valet parking was efficient as well. This hotel is only two blocks from Canal St. If you are loyal to the Marriott brand, I would choose this over the massive JW or New Orleans Marriott. I prefer this luxury boutique hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room facing Canal St

We stayed here in early June, loved the place. Very pleasant staff at check in, room was very comfortable. Had a king bed with a comfortable mattress. Bathroom was very nice, we were supplied with the usual amenities, including toothpaste. Only complaint on the room was a somewhat inconsistent ac unit, but it pumped out enough cool air to offset the humidity. The room and hotel were immaculate. Used the gym a couple times, the equipment was in excellent shape and water and towels were provided in the gym. Our package included breakfast each morning. We found the waitstaff to be very pleasant, although a bit slow at times. The food for breakfast was good, a buffet was offered on the weekend. Starbucks in the lobby was a big plus for us! As others have mentioned, the location is excellent...close to the French Quarter and CBD. We would stay here again.

I recently stayed with my daughter and son-in-law for the weekend. Reservations were made for 3 and we were given a king room instead of 2 doubles or queens. The front desk was rude when we asked for a different room and offered a rollaway. The rooms were small anyway, but we were crawling over the beds to get around in the room. Totally unacceptable. The hotel is way too pricey for what you get. The hotel is beautiful, must have had a recent update and in a great location. Close to Bourbon St. but very quiet. Front desk staff definitely needs a makeover and a lesson in congeniality.

Caught a great rate on Priceline after a long flight in from South Korea. Staff was super friendly and the hotel was very clean. A Walgreens is. A short walk away for moderately priced necessities. Another convenience store named Brothers is just as close but the Bellman told me they're prices are really high. Only stayed one night but it was very enjoyable. The bed was fantastic. Soft, fluffy and comfy pillows made for a great sleep. Picked my car up from the port the next morning and parking is very tight in the front of the hotel but the doorman allowed me to squeeze in for an extended luggage load. Valet parking over night will run you another $32.

Cons: Room was a little underwhelming and could use a little upgrade. No free Internet. Hard to believe that a place this nice that costs as much as it does also charges for Internet.

Room Tip: Naming my own price on Priceline saved me 60% and the room was on club level.

The hotel is very nice and in a great central location. It is a block off of Canal Blvd. and with in four blocks from Casino and French Quarter. All within walking distance. There are cables cars that run to the river and then into the French Market. Very contemporary lobby and bar area, all on first level. Does have a Starbucks as well in the lobby. There is a very nice restaurant on site (didn't visit this trip because of the kids.) Rooms are updated, despite the outward appearance of the hotel. Parking is valet and the garage is only for valet use, so no need to worry about your vehicle. Just be aware that this will hit you for an extra $38 and some change to park per night. Staff is very accommodating and will do what they can to make sure you are satisfied. There is WI-FI and internet connections in the room, but there again another $15 for use of that per day. Overall a nice experience for a quick weekend trip.

We got this hotel on Priceline. We checked in late on a Friday night around 11 p.m.. They were able to put us in a corner room with a king bed.

Bed: The mattress was old but the bed was extremely comfortable. a newer mattress would be nice. Our bed was a Murphy bed. The sheets were amazing!!! Cool and Smooth!!

Bathroom: Pretty big for a New Orleans Hotel. It had AVEDA supplies which was cool!!

A/C: This is a big one for me. It blew cold and over us while we slept. I know some people have complained about this, for us, this was a positive. I have been in rooms where the temperature was ok and it felt like it was very hot while we slept.

Check In: The girl was super friendly...it's a New Orleans thing!! the lobby is really cool and lots of great photo Ops if you are inclined.

Overall: Very happy with the hotel. Location was great if you are driving so you don't have to deal with the French Quarter crowd.

I had the opportunity to stay here for 1 night for business and it was great! The lobby was gorgeous and the staff really friendly. Loved the fact that a Starbucks was in the lobby! The rooms were big and the decor was nice. I didn't swim, but I saw the pool and it looked well taken care of. Would definitely recommend this hotel to someone staying in the area!
