“Perfect Weekend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the Green House Inn and we have Nothing but good to say about it! Very Clean, snacks provided at all hours, the Pool area is like a Dream! You forget you are right in the heart of New Orleans. It's a tropical paradise. Jesse and Frank were very friendly and always ready to provide info on things to see and places to eat. I totally recommend the Green House Inn

My husband and I had a wonderful time this past weekend at The Green House Inn. We arrived Saturday for the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon. Jesse, the InnKeeper, is a fabulous host. We stayed in the Bird of Paradise room. My favorite by far. It is on the balcony overlooiking a beautiful pool. And it even has its own balcony space with 2 lounge chairs. The hot tub was perfect before and after the race. The Inn is right on the race course. It was an east walk to the convention center to pickup my packet and an easy walk to the start. My husband was able to stand in the front of the Inn and cheer me on ....and everyone else who ran the race. He was even able to had me some Shot Blocks and water. I love this Inn....cannot wait to stay there next year for the race.

Room Tip: Bird of Paradise on Balcony over looking Pool.

I loved this B &B. What an amazing little oasis in this neighborhood. The owner & manager were very knowledgeable and friendly. They are very hospitable and a great help if you don't know the area....just ask them anything and they will try to answer your questions as best as they can..!!
The pool area is amazing, it looks very tropical like if you were in a different country. It is a salt water pool and if you practice nudism you are welcome to do it there, although we haven't witness anyone naked there. It is a few miles away from the center but you can catch a trolley a few streets away and go to the French quarter and the touristy areas. Most tours will pick you up at the hotels. The breakfast is free and included.

Great location and excellent management and staff. It's called the Green House Inn not just because it's painted green, but because it is truly a study in tropical flora. The salt water pool along with the large hot tub are immersed in a lush plant laden environment presided over by Rio, the resident macaw. Jesse, the innkeeper went out of his way to assure that the smallest details were attended to and was a fount of knowledge on everything to see and do. Staying at Green House was the key to our having a memorable trip to New Orleans for our first time. Paul and Carey

Thought I had posted this earlier. We stayed at The Greenhouse Inn early in February. What a wonderful place. Jesse greeted us as if we were old friends. The courtyard is stunning. The furnishings and our room were absolutely beautiful. Off street parking, great breakfast in the a.m.-Jesse made us waffles. Love the beautiful German Shepherd-Steuben. Our older female lab had fun, although she was not amused by Steuben's attention (lol).

I want to rent out the entire place and have a big old fashioned house party!

Room Tip: We loved our room-right by a private area of the courtyard. Perfect.

This amazing oasis, just a few minutes walk from Canal Street and into the French Quarter, offers all the comfort and hospitality one would hope for and more. Frank and Jesse are gracious hosts, and their beautiful inn is very inviting-to the point where it is very tempting to linger a little longer before venture out into the city. Whether in the gardens, with pool and hot tub, or in comfortable rooms...highly recommended!

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed it. The best reason to stay here is the lovely garden and pool/spa area outside--wonderful! We used the hot tub all 3 nights. Also there is off street parking, which is always a big deal in this part of the city. But make sure you check out the inn's website and pay attention to details: adults only, clothing optional pool, serve yourself continental breakfast. This is a New Orleans kind of place, casual, not a lot of attention to detail. If you are into elegant B&Bs with breakfast served on china this is not your kind of place. Other things to be aware of: the rooms are kind of small, the serve yourself breakfast is simple--toast, yogurt, coffee, etc.--but that was fine for us. A bigger thing for me is that there is not much in the way of common areas inside to sit and relax (a sofa off the dining room area). In other words there is not a parlor or living room. Since it was a little too chilly to sit outside while we were there, this was a problem--sitting in the small room was the only option. My biggest complaint was that I found the common areas kind of dirty--the staircase to the second floor had dirty carpet that hadn't been vacuumed in a while. While our room was clean when we arrived, it was raining when we checked in and we accidentally tracked muddy foot prints into the room (wood floors). When the room was cleaned the next day, the housekeeper didn't even clean the floor. Re the clothing optional, of the 3 nights we were there, there was only 1 person who swam naked! All in all a casual, decent place to stay in a good location.

Thank you for your comments! We always welcome comments from our guests and strive to exceed their expectations. Our guest rooms average over 200 square feet, which is much larger than many bed & breakfasts in New Orleans. Many of our guests use our Inn as a jumping off point to explore our Historic city, enjoy New Orleans' fine restaurants, relax by our saltwater pool, and read on covered back porch or cozy library. Our self service Continental breakfast is available to our guests 24/7. It includes fresh fruit, muffins, breakfast bars, cereals, oatmeal, Chicory coffee, bread and croissants for toasting, jams, peanut butter, Nutella, boiled eggs, yogurt, orange juice, milk, hot chocolate, teas, and homemade waffles upon request. For guest desiring a full/hot breakfast there are great two breakfast spots within a 3 block walk from our Inn. We are very proud of our 160 year old original hardwood floors. Each room is mopped daily and our carpeted staircase is vacuumed regularly. During inclement weather it is sometimes difficult to keep the floors spotless, with the large numbers of guests coming and going through out the day. Our housekeepers take great pride in their work and do a remarkable job cleaning our 1840's Inn. Thank you again for your comments. We would love to have you return for another stay with us!
