“Great hotel with great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2009

Stayed here for a pre-cruise stay and had an excellent stay! Booked online for the cruise rate of $99 with free parking for the week. Front desk staff was very friendly. The booked room type was not available (2 doubles) so they upgraded us to a King suite at no extra charge. Free evening cocktails and free breakfast makes the stay even better. Only a 4 block walk to Bourbon St. Would stay here again anytime in New Orleans.

This was the first trip back to New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. What a pleasant experience! New Orleans still has a lot of charm and uniqueness. The city is rebuilding but it is doing quite well. Would recommend to anyone. Drury Inn continues to amaze me on its overall value. I was attracted to Drury because of price and amenities. Being off the Quarter saved a lot of money on hotel rates and parking fees. The Quarter is within walking distance and on the St. Charles trolley line. Walking may be a bit uncomfortable with unfamiliar surroundings late in the evening unless you are with a group. The trolley runs about every 30 minutes on the side of the hotel. During the day you can walk everywhere or purchase a day pass on the trolley lines and ride as much as you want. Great values at the hotel include the evening reception (free drinks and snacks!) and the hot breakfast. Rooms are good. Common areas are well decorated. Overall a very nice experience . . . plus I saved a lot of money for other tourist activities!

We stayed in the hotel one day prior to cruise. Our family of three was very comfortable in the hotel and enjoyed a swim at the hotel's rooftop pool. The hotel's staff was very helpful and friendly with directions to and from the French Quarter and obtaining a cab for us the morning of our cruise (which actually left from Mobile -- long story). The price was definately reasonable at $79. I would absolutely stay there again over pricier places in the Quarter

Our stay at Drury Inn was a very pleasant one. On our way to the hotel we called them and they were able to talk us directly to the hotel from blocks away. The rooms were clean, the view was AWESOME and the staff were very curtious. Although we didn't get to go in the roof top pool because of the rain it was a great perk that other hotels I researched did not offer. We also loved the breakfast! They had just about anything you would want. It was definatly not your typical breakfast and its served until 10! Check out was a breese, and although parking was limited, we could not find any nicks, scratches, or anything else. Within walking distance to just about anything. Just 4 blocks from the Superdome and close to the French Quarters.

We stayed here prior to boarding our cruise ship. Our rate included free parking for the duration of the cruise, which would have cost us the price of the room once over at the cruise terminal, so you can't beat the price. Check in was fast and smooth and our room was ready. Dury almost always slides the paid receipt under your door before morning, so check out is nothing more than leaving your room and walking out the front door.

The evening happy hour was disappointing, but only because I'm a beer drinker, and they were out of beer. That's never happened to me at a Drury, and I'm pretty surprised that in New Orleans, you couldn't buy another keg pretty quickly. The snacks were good, and the lobby area was room and comfortable. The front desk clerk was very helpful with restaurant suggestions, directions, and hailing a cab.

I felt pretty safe here. The doors locked at 10, and didn't open up until some time later. I was sitting in the hotel lobby typing this review at 5:30 am, and more than one guest came staggering in after a night on Bourbon Street. Most had trouble with their keys (imagine that . . . ) and the front desk clerk was very rigid in checking ID's and guest registrations before she let them in. You had to use your room key to go anywhere on the elevator. No key, no elevator movement.

The breakfast was hot, tasty, and way above your basic continental, but that's what you always get with Drury. No surprises here. All in all, a great room at a great price, with amenities that cost much extra at most hotels.

I am not to sure if this is still the top rated hotel in New Orleans but if it is that is not saying a lot for New Orleans hotels. The hotel is just OK. The location is about 3 blocks from Burbon St and I think a little far from the action. I would not want to stay anywhere near Burbon Street due to the noise but this is a little far away The room sizes are good but the bathrooms are old and need updating. We had problems with our room not being cleaned properly and our friends had trouble with there shower and toilet. When they informed the front desk he was more interested in telling them his problems than dealing with thiers.

Drury is very good value for the money. We stayed on an overnight pre cruise. Rooms were large and comfy. We had a Spa tub in the bathroom but it wasn't clean as little bits of what looked liked old lavender petals came out of the jets. Need to have a shower.
The breakfast was quite good. It is close enough to Riverwalk and French Quarter. Neighborhood was a bit dicey north of hotel. We were a little uncomfotable walking back late at night (1PM) as the streets were a little empty of people.

  • Liked — Good value for money
  • Disliked — Couldn't enjoy the spa tub
