“Great Hotel for the budget minded.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011

Great staff and very helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean!! Yea! We changed our room location from 1st floor by restrooms, to a 3rd floor with no problem. All the staff made us feel like we were special. Now the best thing for the budget. The free breakfast is great when you don't want to go out. What is even better is the 5:30 Kickback where they have free finger foods and you are able to get up to 3 adult drinks. It's a great way to save money and start off your evening. You are 4 blocks away from the French Quarter and Harrah's Casino, also 1 block from the streetcar you can catch to the Quarter. I reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 1st floor.

Booked the hotel due to reviews on Trip Advisor. I was immediately disappointed in the room which was not a suite, was very dark with a single very small window that looked out over an alley You cannot call a room with an exercise bike and just two treadmills a fitness room. No free weights, no elliptical, no room to do push ups or sit ups. They were unable to accommodate a request of additional hanger for the room stating what was in the closet were the only hangers available to me. The evening snack and drinks were held in a room that could not accommodate the number of guests that wanted to attend. Resulting in lines, and nowhere to sit. My husband and I skipped this "complimentary" offering and instead ate and had drinks outside of the hotel. As a result we checkout after only one night of a 6 night stay.

On the plus side, staff was very pleasant although every time I had to speak to someone at the front desk it was empty and I would have to wait several minutes while staff (who you could see from the front desk) would continue to perform computer work in the back office.

New Orleans has a lot of other wonderful hotels that are reasonably priced you may want to consider one of them.

Thank your for your feedback. Since our hotel is located in an historic building in the central business district, some of our guest rooms are laid out so they have limited windows with a view of the adjacent buildings. We will be adding a new addition to our building starting in the fall of 2011 which will add additional seating in the breakfast and bar area as well as add a larger cardio/fitness center. Our rooms are set up with eight
permanent hangers and we gladly provide our guests extra wire hangers left behind by other guest if available. We strive to provide all of our guests with exceptional service and at times our front desk staff answers the phone in our side office and are unable to promptly greet the guest that walks up to the front desk. We hope to have you as our guest again soon.

As we are from Australia and traveling around USA for 6 weeks we only had 2days in New Orleans and the Drury Hotel was out of this world for the money you pay!! We got breakfast then at 3pm every afternoon you come down and get your free popcorn and soft drink and the staff at the front desk was so helpful and free wifi. Then you have the rooms – very clean and a great size there your not tripping over each other.

All in All when we come back to New Orleans we will be staying here!!

Stayed 5 nights. Family of 4. Absolutely perfect. Cannot think of one thing I could complain about. Great price, 2 free meals everyday. Nice room, WiFi. Location! I mean, what could I possibly complain about?

I will recommend this hotel to anyone, and will look for the Drury brand in future travels.

Kudos to a top notch staff & management who make this top notch facility tick.

I wish they had Drury in the west! This place was great!! The breakfast had hot and cold items. The "dinner" really is a dinner for our family. We saved so much money eating dinner at Drury, and they give you free (adult) drinks too!! The walk to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter is only 5 to 10 minutes. But, the humid heat did overwhelm us Californians....and it was only 89 degrees. (Give us 110 in the dry heat and we'll take it!!) The roof top pool and jacuzzi were so refreshing and the novelty of it was terrific for the kids. This was one of our favorites on our 28 day road trip. Staff was nice, parking was close, and the room was large enough for the 5 of us, no frills. We are booked at the St. Louis Drury for our next road trip, summer 2011!

Room Tip: We had a corner room which seemd a little bigger .

This hotel is walking distance to all of the major parade routes - except for St. Charles, which is a hike - but Bacchus ran right outside the hotel. PLUS you get free breakfast every morning which is crucial when you are not up for venturing outside the morning after. The security and hotel staff were nice too. Heads up, the floor we stayed on was underneath the swimming pool, so our room was oddly damp - so just be sure to check on that before booking. I can't remember what floor it was though.

All in all, I recommend this hotel for Mardi Gras. It was a pretty good price per night as well.

Room Tip: Make sure your room isn't under the pool!

First off, I am shocked that the Drury has fallen to number 2 in the top hotels list. No way it can be beaten. My wife and I were here for New Years 2010. I had wanted to stay in the Quarter, but the prices were sky high and we are by no means rich. I picked the Drury for our 3 nights stay. The prices averaged out to $175 a night if I remember correctly, a huge discount from the $250 or so average of everywhere else. To start to hotel is beautiful. The lobby exudes southern charm as does the wonderfully front desk staff (one of the employees spent 15 minutes calling various restaurants to find us some crawfish - it wasn't in season yet and was hard to come by). The happy hour food/drink and the breakfast were great. The food was plentiful and pretty good. Don't tell anyone but we actually brought some up to our rooms for late night snack (we had a fridge). The room was great. We had a larger room with huge floor to ceiling windows and the ceiling was very high. We actually had a great view of some nasty thunderstorms that rolled through one morning. Great stuff. The walk to the quarter was a snap - 3 blocks or so. Easy trolley access also. The only negative I can think of is that they were having some fire alarm problems while we were there (went off three times, once in the middle of the night which was annoying, but I'm sure that's been fixed by now). All in all, if you don't want to get ripped off in the quarter, don't want to be surrounded by the lovely, filthy debauchery of bourbon street, want good free food, a friendly staff, access to transportation to other parts of the city, and on and on and on, stay in the Drury. The Drury is the real number one hotel in New Orleans. Hopefully this review pushes it back to the top :-)
