“One of our Best Vacations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We visited the Avenue Inn Bed & Breakfast the 2 nd week in October 2012 with our good friends the Kennedy's on their Anniversary. Joe & Bebe were great hosts and a wealth of knowledge. The Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar is 2 blocks away and has great meals or a little more casual is the New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Co. right next door and a great place for a nightcap or a meal. We caught the streetcar right outside the door on the Boulevard, great for sightseeing or getting to "The Quarter". Joe booked all our tours for us and we were picked up at the front door each time. I have never been one for tours but I am now convinced that it is the way to go and well worth the $$. We ended every tour by getting dropped off in the French Quarter or downtown. We then took the RTA back "home" at night. As far is our safety, we never felt threatened or unsafe at anytime. Common sense is the best guideline. The citizens of New Orleans are among the friendliest we have ever come across in our travels. Things not to miss;
- The French Quarter
- Plantation Tour
- City Tour
- Swamp Tour
- Lord Chaz Ghost Tour
- World War II Museum
- Blues, Jazz & Seafood Festivals

Thank you Joe & Bebe & New Orleans for a great vacation!!!

P.S. Back to the Gym. The FOOD is awesome.

We had so much fun with these two couples. They were open to all of our suggestions and they just had a blast. Our goal is for everyone visiting us to enjoy the city in the same fashion and we try hard to make that happen for those who want assistance. We are looking forward for these folks to come back and visit again. There are many more restaurants and venues for them to explore!

We spent three enjoyable nights at the Avenue Inn on the ground floor, facing St. Charles Avenue. What is amazing is with the trolleys clanging just outside the door the room was virtually silent. Joe pointed out to us that he had special windows installed that quell the sound. The proprietors were very helpful and made all of our requested dinner reservations prior to our arrival, plus add recommendations for other meals. The Inn is a short trolly ride to Commanders Palace, a short walk to Pascal's Manale Restaurant and just a block from the new, but very good, Superior Seafood & Oyster Bar.

NOTE: If using the trolley towards the quarter is critical for your stay, talk to Joe to see if the trolley line construction work has been completed.

Room Tip: Talk to Joe and book well in advance.

We just can't say enough about these folks. It was a pleasure having them stay in our historic mansion home. So appreciative of the comments about their stay and we are pleased that they found the accommodations to their liking. There is still public transportation all the way to the French Quarter from our doorstep, only during the renovation period, guests will transfer to shuttle buses for part of the trip. A minor inconvenience we believe, but still a bargain for $3.00 for all day riding.

My husband and I recently visited New Orleans for a belated honeymoon and stayed at the Avenue Inn. We purchased one of their packages and we were not disappointed. We arrived and were greeted at the door by Joe, and received warm chocolate chip cookies while he oriented us to the B&B. The continental breakfast was great, and there are enough choices to have somethng different each day. If you feel that you want beignets while in N.O., there is a shop right next door with good beignets as well. Our room was beautiful and clean, and the house is gorgeous. Joe sent us to the Upperline restaurant which is among the best meals we have ever had (we are pretty serious foodies), and the package we got made everything easy and convenient for us, and was a good value. The Avenue Inn gets our best recommendation, and we plan on coming back.

Room Tip: Discuss your needs/wants with Joe when you book, and he can get you a room that works for you. We we...

Our packages are unique here at the Avenue Inn and we are so happy that the one this couple selected worked well for them. If you like to have your activities pre-set, then you should check out what we have to offer like this couple did. With over 26 packages, there's a right one for you.

First off, what a beautiful house! Tall ceilings, gorgeous architecture and so much history is in this 17 bedroom house. The Innkeepers, Joe and Bebe, were wonderful (and quite funny also!). The location was perfect-- right in the middle of St. Charles and the drive to the Quarter was pretty quick and very easy. My friend and I stayed in a room on the lower level. The fireplace was a gorgeous touch and the beds were comfortable. Again, the ceilings were super high and it had a very traditional New Orleans feel. Continental breakfast is offered in the morning unitl 10, but you can pretty much eat anytime as they offer unlimited water, cereal, muffins, boiled eggs, etc. Joe had a great sense of what to do while we were staying in N.O. and we followed his advice. Overall we had a great time! Oh, and they have a lovely porch out front with rocking chairs and a view of beautiful palm trees and St. Charles. Great for morning coffee after a night of New Orleans drinking!

Room Tip: I only stayed in Room 2, so I can't compare to other rooms

Found the Avenue Inn on line and it stood out from other bed and breakfast spots. It lived up to the reviews! Joe shares great local knowledge about NOLA for dining and tour options. This comfortable home offers rockers on the front porch, snacks, current magazines . . . a relaxing place to rest and put your feet up. Be sure to get the package deal including trolley tickets, cafe au lait and beignets. Will recommend to friends!

We do make every effort to suggest venues and restaurants that please our guests. Not a perfect science, but we have had lots of good results as mentioned by this guest. We thank them for the kind words. Come see us at our New Orleans bed and breakfast and let us offer you our full knowledge of the city. It's all included with your stay. We'll even make the reservations for you.

We had a wonderful time on our first visit to New Orleans. Joe and Bebe were wonderful hosts and were truly interested in our plans for each day. They had great suggestions for things to do and places to eat. They made us feel right at home from the minute we walked in the door. We will definitely be staying there again next time we were in New Orleans!

We loved this place, sleeping in comfortable antiquity was a joy. Our queen size 4-poster rice plantation bed was brilliant. We felt as if we were in a stately home that one just tours round but does not touch. 10' doors, beautiful wooden floors, antique fireplaces and amazing furniture. Joe and Bebe are great and if they possibly can they make sure your days spent with them are happy and fulfilling. Anyone visiting new Orleans would be crazy not to stay here and experience the city from a genuine old new Orleans grand mansion.

We greatly appreciate the raves of this couple. They were here on their way to a cruise. We helped them plan the short visit and apparently their stay was to their liking. Select us for a lodging choice and get our assistance in planning your stay. Hope to see you in our New Orleans bed and breakfast soon.
