“Spacious, clean, and pleasant trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I stayed here for a visit that combined business (work conference) and pleasure (Mardi Gras). The hotel is beautiful - both inside and outside, architecturally. The staff were friendly and the concierge was super helpful. On the first night he recommended that we eat at Oceana and gave us walking directions there. (The food at Oceana is great and if you want my two cents avoid Acme which is overrated and has huge line ups especially since there are better oysters, including across the street, and Cajun food elsewhere.)

The location on Poydras can't be beat. It's in the Central Business District (with the mall and near the water) but borders the Warehouse District with great restaurants, museums, and boutique shopping and is about a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter. If you're a fan of walking like us, you can also walk to the Garden District with the gorgeous homes or catch a tram right at the corner of the hotel. There's also a grocery store nearby if you tire of eating out and just want some fresh fruit. Keep in mind that the hotel room doesn't have a fridge.

What it does have is a coffee maker that brews some pretty tasty coffee. I have nothing bad to say about the hotel room. It's spacious, clean, and has everything that I could want -- including enough storage for you to unpack your clothes. The bathrooms are HUGE, and again are very clean.

I highly recommend The Whitney. I'd definitely return there again if I'm ever in NOLA.

Room Tip: Keep in mind that we stayed during Mardi Gras so there was quite a bit of noise. I would think it wo...

The Whitney is an old bank refurbished into an independent hotel just outside of the French Quarter. We had a comfortable stay in a double room on the 7th floor separated by french doors that made it seem like a two bedroom. The room was clean, quiet and full of light. While there were few amenities in the hotel, the service was attentive when needed by Hailey and Earl. Some challenges were the slow hot water pipes, loud heating system and jammed door locks.

Other than that, the Warehouse District and French Quarter are about a 10 minute walk away. The surrounding area had great restaurants like Mother's for soul food and two locations of The Ruby Slipper for brunch. There is the Canal Shops mall close by and hotel shuttle to the airport is also very convenient and close. The area felt safe, well lit and easy to navigate to surrounding neighborhoods. Just hop on a street car to tour the area!

Very convenient location at the corner of St. Charles and Poydras St. Two minute walk to the Parade Routes. Very friendly staff, great hospitality. 15 minute walk to Bourbon Street, Canal Street and most historic/cultural landmarks in the Crescent City.

Will be my hotel of choice for returning Mardi Gras.

I have stay at the Whitney many times over the past 2 or 3 years since it is located a block away from the office I have to be in for 4 days. This past visit I stayed in room 510. It was a bad experience. At the door way the carpet was loose and there was a large gap where my roller suit case had difficulty going over. In the bedroom, next to the bed and desk, the carpet was laid over large holes in the floor that were ,ankle deep. I calculate that there were 3 such depressions. I consider this dangerous and it is amazing how the condition was missed by the housekeeping department. I liken the spacious of the room and would stay there again, after the conditions were corrected and the room again made habitable.

Room Tip: Make sure room 510 has been repaired

On behalf of the hotel staff, please accept my apologies for the condition of your room. Your original reservation (booked through Expedia) had you reserved for a smaller queen room but we upgraded you to a suite due to the length of your stay. We would certainly never have intentionally put you in a room that you weren't satisfied with. Also, during your stay, if you would have communicated your disdain for the room, we gladly would have moved you. Again, my apologies. Equally disappointing is that your first review with the hotel on TripAdvisor describes a less than stellar experience. Can we assume all your other visits to this hotel met or exceeded your expectations? I certainly hope so. The good news is that the issues are easily remedied and with a renovation just over the horizon, I'm sure the final product will please everyone. Thank you for bringing your issues to my attention and again, please accept my apologies.

Kindest Regards,
Casey A. Callais

We stayed in this hotel for five nights. The room was clean and wifi anywhere available. Windows could not be opened, so (a sense of) fresh air was rather impossible to breath. Breakfast was rather ok than superb. Staff was friendly and helpful. Recommended!
