“Excellent overall value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2010

We stayed in this hotel during the second weekend of Jazz Fest. Our party has been coming to Jazz Fest for almost ten years, and scours the web several months prior to the event searching for moderate priced hotels in the Central Business District. This was our first visit to the Baronne Plaza. First, the location is outstanding for those who want to be close to, but not sleeping with, the action in the Quarter. An easy five minute walk puts you in the heart of this activity. From a price standpoint, the hotel was easily the best price for comparable type lodging that we found. My room was clean, smelled fresh and, had a modern bathroom with a forceful shower with quick water heat up. The room was serviced promptly and thoroughly each day. It was not the largest, but, if one doesn't intend to spend a whole lot of time in the room other than sleep and shower, who cares? Our floor was very quiet, and I never heard a sound from any other room.

Our interactions with staff were pleasant and they seemed generally helpful, though one minor issue came when I asked to change a $100 bill and it could not be accomplished. This was unfortunate as the lobby ATM had a $3.50 fee. We asked for some directions one day which were accurate and delivered with a smile. Front desk personnel arranged for a cab to drive us to MSY the final morning, and the cab was out front of the hotel, right on time. The breakfast looked OK, but recommend, if you have time, you check out "Mothers" or "Daisy Duke's" for relatively close by home cooked type breakfasts. There is a good convenience store, "Brother's Chicken", one block down selling all kinds of drinks, snacks, etc., as well as some pretty decent take out fried chicken. There is a large Wallgreens also a block down. The hotel seemed to lack a bar, but in New Orleans I don't need to hang out in a hotel bar anyway.

Overall, a very good deal and, IMO, as good, or better, than any comparable place (price and amenities wises) I've stayed in New Orleans (ie: Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Queen and Crescent, Cotton Exchange, etc.). If we can get a similar price next year, we will likely choose this over other similar hotels.

I was attending a conference at one of the fancier business hotels but stayed at the Baronne Plaza when the other property was booked up. This is nothing fancy, but the beds are comfortable, my room was very quiet, and the location can't be beat. The total tab for three nights was the same as one night would have been at my conference hotel. The public spaces are a bit spartan, and the exercise room is pitiful, but it is walking distance from every tourist attraction and three minutes from the French Quarter. Free, fast wireless internet in every room. I'd stay there again.

I live 30 miles away but wanted to try this place out when I didn't want to drive home 1). Rooms are overpriced for they are. 2) king bed rooms have windows INTO the hotel. 3). All the buttons were missing from the phone. 4). Wireless was horrid. 5) I reserved 2 kings but they tried to put me in a double and I had to fight for the rooms I reserved. 6). The toiled wasn't sealed on the bottom and there were fecal stains on the surrounding tile. 7). Attached restaurant does not have liquor license so you have to go elsewhere if you want a quick drink at the hotel. I live here and have stayed at MANY better places for the price. This is in NO way 3 star hotel and I do not recommend it.

Thank you for your review of the Baronne Plaza Hotel. We apologize if you did not get a chance to take advantage of all our hotel amenities that would qualify us as a 3 star hotel. Also, we understand you requested a king room with an exterior window view, but as stated on our hotel's website, all rooms with a king size bed only have windows with an interior window view. Any and all guests complaints are immediately resolved if notified to management in advance. Thank you again for your patronage.

I stayed there over this past weekend and with the exception of not being able to accommodate an early check-in (not a minute before the 3 pm minimum)--the overall stay was fine. The interior room I had with no external windows was a bit disorienting (reminiscent of a casino hotel in which they don't want you to know if it's day or night); that left me feeling a little claustrophobic. That being said, the be and bedding was very plush and comfortable, the staff was very helpful and friendly from the manager to the valet to the security guard; the sushi restaurant and staff was exceptional--I ate there three times in 36 hours and I never do that! The location was absolutely stellar--other than paying for an airport ride to and from--I never once required a cab for anything. Room service with traditional offerings would have been a super-big positive.

The best slepp i got after partying! this place is two blocks away from bourbon, right next to Canal which takes to to the trams, the casino and a ton of shops. This hotel is right next to Brothers chicken (which is awasome) and is out of the loudness of the main streets. Also right next to a church (the historical first church of new orleans) for sunday mass. And also free intertnet!

My friends and I stayed at this hotel during a bachelorette weekend. I must say, we were pleasantly surprised with the rooms upon arrival, as they were very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. HOWEVER......our views quickly changed. The sound barriers in this hotel are non-existent. We could not sleep at all, as we were able to hear EVERYTHING coming from our neighbor's room and it was very inappropriate and filthy. This lasted from 3am--8am. We called security 3 times and nothing was done. Had we had kids in the room, we would have had to leave the room. When we complained to the manager the next morning, he seemed indifferent. He said that things like that happen in hotels across the country and it was not the hotel's fault. Yes, things like that do happen I am sure, however, most hotels have better sound barriers and you cannot hear it. Our room was barely discounted and he kind of laughed it off. The fact that this woke up 4 girls after a night of partying, speaks volumes.
