“OK but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2009

We were in town for the Giants game and with two other conventions in town that weekend, were not able to get a great deal on a hotel like we usually do. We wound up at the Baronne because we had 15 people and just needed a place to sleep for a reasonable price and the options were low this particular weekend. We wound up in a handicapped-accessible room so our stay was a bit better than the others we stayed with due to the size of the room and bathroom, but the other rooms were definitely small and had no windows. I have to say the rooms and beds were a bit nicer than I expected due to the recent renovation and it was very clean so that was good. The main part of the hotel is going through a renovation so its a bit weird that everything in the lobby is a mess but it really didn't affect us much. The location is good, just a block from Canal St I think and few blocks to all the craziness on Bourbon. If I had to stay there again due to lack of availability for better hotels I would, but the last time we managed to get a cheaper rate at the JW Marriott so obviously had better value on that trip. We did get to a great dinner while we were there at Cochone, I definitely recommend that place. The food was outstanding and they were definitely accommodating for a large group. We also went to DBA the last night on Frenchman Street and had a great time with the live band, definitely was a great bar.

NO Handicap Parking or security. Front Desk told us to park right in front of lobby doors with handicap sticker in window. During nite someone tried to steal car, when that did not work the stripped everything off car they could, including tag. Next day staff acted as if this was common occurrence. Police never showed when called.

Thank you for your review of the Baronne Plaza Hotel. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay with us. Issues related to guest services and on-site security has been rectified and it is certainly not acceptable for any of our hotel staff to misinform our hotel guests. As with all U.S. downtown cities, public parking is normally available for a fee (parking your vehicle on city property is never recommended) and if a guest needs assistant with handicap parking, our staff will be more than obliged to find suitable parking. Reviews such as this help us to identify problems and make the Baronne Plaza experience what it should be, an unforgettable and memorable experience. We truly appreciate your business and are positive we can make your next stay with us a truly unforgettable experience if given the chance!

The only reason I gave this hotel a 4 star and not 5 is because it is under rennovation. The poor reviews must be from those who stayed before the rennovation because the rooms were cleans and updated with marble bathroom and flat screen tv's. The location is great also..minutes away from everything.

location was great, just a short walk to canal and bourbon street, as well as superdome and casinos. hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. remodeling interior, which wasn't important to our group of mid 20's party'ers. rooms varied in size, all had nice flat screen. good bang for your buck. i'd stay again.

I couldn't find a room in the city because there was a convention in town that week, but at the last minute they had an opeing. The room was pretty nice and the staff were really into helping me when I had questions. I didn't see a restaurant, but they said they were in the process of opening one. They also had meeting rooms under construction, so looks like they're making this hotel more updated. I can say I will be back for sure next year!

I made this reservation very last minute - in fact the day before we arrived. Then I read some reviews and began to doubt and hope for the best. Relax your fears - the hotel is under renovation - but that is only good for you. Whatever issues were there, they must have been addressed. The rooms were completely remodeled and extremely nice. Beds - wunnerful!!! There are some incomplete areas still being worked on - but the rooms were totally quiet and we never heard any construction going on. Call the hotel directly if you want to know about lobby being complete or weight room completed. We weren't sleeping in those spots anyway! Staff was very helpful and friendly.

We had such a great time staying here that we can't believe we booked the room at the rate we got (but then again, we booked early so...). Let me tell you the staff are so friendly and accomodating and they really go out of their way to help you when you need directions or just a place to eat. I wish their restaurant was open when I was there, but it's not that big of a deal since there are so many other places to eat nearby. Also, make sure you ask for an exterior window room...we came in Thursday and even though they were booked up, the front desk clerk helped us move (for an extra fee). The rooms are so nice and look brand new and modern. I stayed at a hotel on St. Charles Avenue a few years ago and the room was really outdated and had old furniture. My only real complaint would be the public areas that are being remodeled right now. No business center at the moment, but the employees let me use their computers so that was nice. The lobby needed to be spruced up a bit too. Overall can't really complain too much and would recommend this place to people who just want a place to sleep or are just middle of the road travelers.
