Owner description: Racontours, New Orleans is a walking tour company dedicated to sharing stories in an immersive Southern experience. Our tours are for story lovers and history buffs alike whose curiosity goes beyond mere linear dates and facts. While we offer 2 tours, we can only provide 1 tour a day on a first come first served basis. Reservations must be made with a minimum 24 hours advance notice. Our Garden District tour is a 6 hour experience that includes a 4 course lunch at the world renowned Commanders Palace! Our Voodoo tour is a 4-5 hour experience which takes place in the French Quarter. It is a fun and touching examination of how this often misunderstood ancient African faith evolved with the residents of the Vieux Carre, into what is now known as New Orleans Voodoo. Each walking tour concludes in an above ground cemetery. Join Racontours and discover the passions, loves, deceits and betrayals, that took place in our garden, below the sea. Thank you for your interest..and get ready to slow your roll!

“Racontours is a Must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

We are avid travelers and lovers of cultural learning. Our tour with Tree exceeded expectations. He is incredibly knowledgeable and imparts his wisdom through the traditional art of storytelling. Even a history-phobic tourist would enjoy Tree's narratives and, like it or not, come away with a three-dimensional, full-color image of historic persons and events. I can't stop thinking about Micaela Almonester Pontalba since taking the voodoo tour! As if all this were not enough, Tree is also a warm, charming person.

“Don't miss this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This tour of the Garden District, which includes a special lunch at the famous Commander's Palace, is great, not because there are so many sites to see, but because you'll never meet a more entertaining tour guide than Tree. His knowledge of the city is phenomenal, and while he may overdo it on the history, he is great fun to be with for a few hours. And his arrangement with Commander's is terrific, because you get a special meal, with special service, cocktails, lagniappes, the whole deal. Since you are only seeing a small section of the city, I wouldn't make this the first tour I'd take of NOLA, but at some point during your visit you have to take this tour, if you can afford the $90 a person. But considering the meal you are getting, that price is not bad if you can swing it.

“DO NOT MISS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

THE GARDEN DISTRICT was a story that was a web of thought provoking ideas and facts....you get to decide...the truth!.Tree is the best at delivery and theatrics and soooo endearing. The entire tour was one of the best ever and we just returned from a month in Australia where we had fantastic experiences. The three hours of history, stories and love of the city was so powerful. I anticipated that we would enjoy a lunch at the Commanders Palace and that would be the culmination. It could be said that that was only the beginning. The experience exudes class! Tree described the cuisine in detail: the flavors, the history, and the preparation. It was Christmas Eve...the Commanders Palace was at its finest! We toured every dining room and the wine cellar and enjoyed the stories of the rennovations. Tree is the epitome of a tour creator ...spend time talking with him and do not miss this unique and classy aspect of the New Orleans experience!

“Great Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Definitely recommend this walking tour through the Garden District... did this a couple weeks ago, and was a great time, including lunch, drinks and FUN at Commanders Palace, to end the tour...Tree is extremely well versed in the history of the area, and is great to talk too... Hopefully on next visit we can do another tour with Tree... Thanks for a great time

“Best episode EVER!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

This was the best tour that I have ever been on. I have traveled all over the world and this was by far the absolute best tour ever. Tree was not a tour guide--he was a leader for the mind. We had the pleasure of spending the better part of the day with this amazing guide and I enjoyed every second of it. He was engaging, exciting and most of all informative. This is an absolute must do! If you have one day to spend in New Orleans spend it with Tree. When we come back I can't wait to be a repeat customer. TIP: take a cab to the meeting place so that you can take full advantage of the drinks that accompany lunch.
