“A taste of Louisiana country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

After struggling to find a place that wasn't jammed on Bourbon or Frenchmen Street, decided to try Cajun Fais Do Do on a Sunday evening. Every Sunday starting at 5:30 a Cajun band plays and lots of folks dance - same band has been playing 25 years. At 7 they take a break and serve free red beans and rice cooked by the band leader. After the break they play and dance on until 9. Tipitina's is very plain, lots of history, easy to get to on the bus or by taxi if staying in the French Quarter. A wonderful evening and a great break from the FQ.

“Great crowd and music venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Tipitina's is where the locals go for great music. It hosts local legends such as the Neville Brothers and other Neville family bands. The club also brings in nationally known acts. The bar is well-stocked and you will need to cool off with a drink while dancing the night away.

“Top bar for live music”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Professor Long Hair's song is the name, Fess's energy for live music is the game. Fun bar and great venue for live music. If you like the show Treme what you see in their club scenes is what you experience here. Easy to get a cab there but not so easy going back into town. Check their schedule. I saw Dr. John, George Porter and Ed Volker in one night.

“Tipitina Foundation Benefit Concert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Tipitian's is one of the world famous music clubs that have acheive legendary status. The club was founded in the 70's and dedicated to the music of Professor Longhair. Fess has been gone since 1980, but his spirit is still there (along with a bronze bust of the pianist).

The show I attended was a benefit to rebuild Professor Longhair's family home. The house band, the Tipitian All Stars, was George Porter Jr (Meters, Funky Meters) backing local legends Ellis Marsallis, John Cleary, Dr. John (and the fellow from the Radiator's who's name I've forgotten how to spell). Each player paid homage to Fess in their own way. My favorite song of the night was the extended improvisation on Junco Partner by Dr. John and the All Stars.

“Awesome Music Venue!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

I went to New Orleans for the Redskins game and to see Galactic at Tipitinas. What a great music venue. Great staff, sound was excellent, reasonable ticket and drink prices, and great views from everywhere in the room. Very easy to get a cab from and back to the French Quarter. If you are a real/true fan of music you MUST see a show at Tipitinas. Doesn't hurt to see Galactic either. Can't wait to make it back.
