“Unique”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

All of the New Orleans Cemeteries are awesome. Because New Orleans sits below sea level, are graves are above ground. Many tombs have multiple "residents". This particular cemetery has a lot of interesting burial sites, and very religious based. You can do a tour, or go it alone, if a tour is going on at the same time as your visit, it is easy to hear tid-bits of information without the actual guidance process. It is a site to behold, interesting, a little spooky, but popular; from what I understand there's a waiting list

“Not your usual cemetery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

If you aren't familiar with this type of burial practice -- above ground -- this is a good cemetery to visit. It's huge. The structures are varied and some are quite elaborate. I visited No. 3 as part of a city tour. St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 is also worth visiting, but I haven't been there except to drive by it.

“Quiet and peaceful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

Photo opportunities - not enough time for me, but understandable with the tour I was on. Enjoy cemetary visits, and this was a first for me to see a New Orleans cemetary firsthand, want to see more now!

“The least interesting of the 3 St Louis cemeteries”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

This cemetery is on many city tours. Visiting it gives you some idea of New Orleans cemeteries but I wouldn't make a special trip to see it. I think your first choice should be St Louis 2 followed by St Louis 1.
